The kid is highly rated, but I would rather Oline or CB considering our 21 haul at safety, as well as the 22 group. Oline has been talked about plenty, but CB class is super thin. Only 1 true CB in the 21 class. The kid that flipped (Wiggins) to Clemson late in the cycle hurts. 3 CBs on the field on most plays in today's game and we only signed 1 in our 21 class. We signed 3 good looking safeties, so definitely not as big a need right now.

Modern football has 3 safeties on the field a ton. He fits that mold of a hybrid S/LB.

Go get him Coach Jones.

I think they will be fine at corner.

I agree that wiggins flipping messed everything up though.

Jay ward or flott can be the 3rd corner. Probably jay ward.

IMO this kid is a definite take. Could be another SS or hybrid SS/OLB. Like someone else said with today’s defenses you play three safeties often

I thought he looked very promising- especially given the circumstances he was thrown into

Where does the staff feel we are with Jacoby Matthews? With the number of safeties in '21, if we feel good about Matthews I think the remaining scholly would be best used elsewhere. 4 safeties in one class are not all going to stick. Just my opinion.

sorry, my bad.. I agree with you about McGlothern. Held his own, for the most part, for a guy that I thought to be more of a developmental project type

Same here. Was night and day the deer in headlights snap 1 against miss st vs a guy ready to battle against Florida.

He got beat for a score in fl still, but everyone gets beat. He has the frame to turn into a serious edge guy, or transition into a safety. Really glad we got him last minute, for someone who has all the tools, was a 5 star until some weird atm recruitment stuff, and feel lucky to get him to end that class.

Misspoke. Meant to say he had a weird recruitnent... which started with being a heavy atm lead. He was essentially living on their campus on the weekends, and openly asking schools like oh st to recruit him at the same time. A bunch of schools liked him at safety which I don't think he liked, and then he played a ton of wr his senior year, which lead a lot of the services to grade him out as a project ath /cb. He was a stud at wr, just not as fluid as the top guys there. Seen by a diva by a lot of schools, fan bases.

If he can add weight to the frame, he can be a really solid edge corner. Hoping a full spring and summer of actual practices gets the whole secondary back on the same page

Still the same boat, recruiting him heavily and he’s reciprocated a lot of interest. Too early to call at the moment though. I do however think his decision is made sooner than later.

Don’t forget the “you can’t recruit me like no regular player. You gotta recruit me like a 5 star.” Then he was promptly dropped about 300 spots in the rankings. I think he just needed a little humble pie. I think he can be pretty good somewhere in the secondary too

Seems like this kid would know where he was going before asking out of his committment.
