This is where you could see a transfer come in.

DLine is full
Lb just got added depth with brooks and lee.
Kennan Jones is gone.

S
Todd Harris 5-11 190 jr
Cam Lewis 6-1 200 sr
Eric Monroe 6-1 200 sr

Maurice Hampton 6-0 210 so
----Jordan Toles 6-2 195 fr

CB
Kary Vincent 6-0 185 sr
Cordele Flott 6-1 165 so
Raydarious Jones 6-1 170 so
----Elias Ricks 6-1 185 fr

Derek Stingley 6-1 200 so
Jay Ward 6-1 170 so
----Dwight McGlothern 6-1 190 fr

I cannot remember if Britt from Florida has signed yet.
Also if Lorando shows academic promise, or jontre kirklin moves back to cb, then maybe McGlothern moves up to safety.

ETA.
Jordan toles from Baltimore is a huge pickup. Hope of we did not screw up by passing on Joel Williams and eric reed.

Is Stevens moving to Lb?

If not we’re very deep at safety with 5 guys that have gotten real plying time (Stevens, Hampton, Harris, Lewis and Vincent) We need an Olineman.

Don't think Stevens can stick at S but even if so, he is the only one that's really shown anything of substance. Hampton played very good down the stretch and shows considerable promise. Harris has shown well but not enough to make most feel confident that he's elite. Monroe has rarely been on the field so anything from him is positive. Lewis has always looked like a kid over his head. Lot of talent but show me. I love Toles but again he's not shown anything at this level. Help at S wouldn't be a bad thing. We could be excellent or we could be dreadful. None of us really know what we've got back there.

Not for this upcoming year but Monroe, Stevens, and Lewis all leave next year no matter what, and Harris may* leave. We are very thin for the future. This is why sage Ryan is the biggest need in this class.

How many safeties do you expect us to have ffs? We have plenty. Some of them are a bit inexperienced, but that just means it's their turn to step into that role. We have plenty of talent at safety.

Id even put Kaine Williams in there as well.

Also, there are 7 WR in the top 15. I am hoping that 247 just has them at WR and they have at least played DB in high school. We arent taking 7 WR, but I would love for LSU to take some WR/S/CB and the other 3 or 4 would fit that bill.

I think we’re signing an OT, LB and best available. If Myles crumbles this spring it could be a QB

Todd Harris looked just fine. I expect him to play really well.

Mo Hampton will be a good player. Cam Lewis had some good reps - I expect him to turn the corner.

Jordan Toles will be an animal.

The wild card will be Eric Monroe. If he comes around, we will be loaded at safety. I think we have a few corners that can move in and out of the safety position anyway.

The secondary depth may be a different story next year.

If we're going to the transfer portal for defense this year, I really hope it's an experienced, general type of LB that can handle the play calling/adjustments and rack up a bunch of tackles doing the dirty work.

Even if Stevens moves to LB, if needed, he will be moved back to safety. As far as bodies, safety is a none issue this year.

Now safety is going to be a problem next year (I wish we had gotten Williams), as we likely lose 4 guys that play or can play safety. If Devonta Lee wasn't so stuck on wasting time as a WR, he could get snaps this year at safety. He's another guy, like Sullivan was, that is wasting potential by wanting to play on offense.

ETA: looks like Lee has finally decided to move to defense. Good job, I just saw that.

Stevens is a prime example of what patience, hard work, and being unselfish can do for a player. Him at safety is above average, but him as a LB with his speed, coverage abilities and ability to play in the box makes for an intriguing NFL prospect.

There are no positions along the Dline that are thin.

You don’t think that we could use another SDE?

Talent may be an issue. Not depth. I count 17 players including the incoming freshmen for 4 down linemen spots. That’s not counting Evans being moved to Center.

McClendon, Farrell, Taylor, Gaye are all 270-300 lbs and can play a SDE role. Logan, Fonua, and Roy could play there too.

In 4-3 I don’t think SDE and WDE are as big of a deal.

Does not look thin to me. Todd Harris and Hampton are studs. Kary Vincent is a great player who can play safety. Jacoby Stevens is another great player who will play a lot of safety. Devonta Lee is being called a LB, but he will play a lot of safety as well. Then we have Cam Lewis and Monroe who are reliable veterans.

The only position group that is thin is linebacker. We have a lot of great talent at LB, but only one true sideline-to-sideline experienced thumper in Damone Clark. The other talented guys are Brooks and Stevens who are hybrids, and Andre Anthony who is a little unproved.

I also thought McGlothern should get a look at safety and was wondering if that's a possibility.
