Yeah read that last night...which kind of made sense. They felt underscored on bars, and they let that affect them the rest of the meet. Like they lost focus or something on vault too. That’s something you never want to do.

The only bars I felt were significantly underscored was Durante. I thought they were generous with some of Alabama’s bars compared to LSU.

Dunne was short on her final handstand and had the usual form on the dismount.

Dean was Dean, hit routine but not a score you want to count. I can’t believe Deans bars are that close to Dunnes. There is a clear difference in form and toe point

Bryant will continue to struggle to break into the 9.9s on bars until she sticks that dismount. I don’t get why we gave up on her other dismount

You can’t give Alyona a 9.9 and then give Durante a lower score. That to me was egregious.

My scores
Kiya-9.9
Dean-9.75
Dunne-9.850
Bryant- 9.875
Alyona-9.9
Durante- 9.925

Total bars scores: 49.450

I believe he is thinking about how to manage the lineups for post season to get the best results. Post season will be intense as always especially so to make "Four on the Floor" at Championships.

I don't like Kiya as the UB lead-off. Put her in the second half and she scores 9.9+ every time.

We saw Haleigh stick the double front half bar dismount at 101.It is hard to understand why she hasn't been given the green light to use it in competition....would love to ask Jay about this and why Elena is not competing bars.

I've only ever seen her use the double front dismount with her routine, and the double front half after a routine when practicing redoing the dismounts. Is it possible she isn't able to do this dismount after doing a full bar routine? I honestly can't think of any other reason she wouldn't be doing it. I'm fairly certain all four times I've seen her do it, she has stuck it. In my opinion, Haleigh's bar routine is the best of the lineup. Her handstands are always very precise. Her elbows aren't bent. It's just such a shame the dismount ruins what would be a really high score every time.

While I would love to see her in the back half of the lineup to get a higher score, in my eyes, Kiya on bars is like Sami her first two years at LSU: clean solid bar worker who hits consistently every time for us. Put her first to help the back half of the lineup score higher when they hit, because you know she’ll always hit, then move her to the anchor spot as a junior/senior so she can push and get a 10. With Sami first up on bars, if allowed Myia Hambrick to get a 9.975 her senior year on bars and Lexie and Finnegan to get their 10s. If we had someone else to first in the lineup this season, who would be your pick? I honestly can’t think of anyone better and same thinking applies during the 2018 and 2019 seasons with Sami

Agree. Alyona, Dunne, and Brock are too inexperienced and not consistent enough for lead-off. Haleigh and Sami are too good. Dean has too many form errors. So that leaves Kiya as lead-off. If Kai was competing this season I would be open to her as lead off too.

Sad we likely aren't going to see Arenas on bars and Dunne on anything other than bars.

I agree. If you dodn't nail the landing 3 or 4 meets in a row why not change it. It's not like she doesn't have a bag of tricks. It's like they out think therselves sometimes.

Do we know if they have plans to rest Haleigh on floor this week, or if she's still going to do all-around at Kentucky?

Kentucky is always a challenging meet in more ways than one. The team will need to bring its focus with the best possible lineups. I hate to think this meet would be without Haleigh or Kiya. The team really needs a strong road score to go with the 197.55 from Auburn. Our present RQS score is already surpassed by Oklahoma. I could name a few more teams that will be rising as well.

They could rest her on beam, I really think it would not wise to have a floor lineup both without Kiya and Haleigh at the same time.

With Reagan back, I say we go (in no particular order): Alyona, Reagan, Kiya, Desiderio, Dunne and Dean on beam. Rest Bryant this week on beam since we know she’s a hit every time on that event (balance checks aside she stays on the beam)and give Dunne a chance at the lineup especially if we plan to use her on that event during post season. She’s exhibitioned twice so I think it’s time Jay put her in. For floor in terms of girls in no particular order I’d go Ballard, Shchennikova, Bryant, Arenas, Campbell and Edwards in lineups, especially if we’re resting Kiya this week. Yes, Dean is a solid floor worker and hits every time but I would put Arenas in over her due to Dean’s form issues.

Just wanted to post, this past Sunday Kaytlyn Johnson competed again in the AA, another strong vault performance and finished 2nd on bars

I expect bumps in the road for her given she had been out for a while but its really encouraging to see her back out there competing every other weekend again. Its just gonna take a little bit of time and its a significant start that she is back to training and competing regularly. She will be at LSU in the coming months so this gives her a strong foundation before coming in.

I honestly think Kaytlyn could make a vault lineup immediately at LSU. Her vaulting is that good.

One of Kai’s old coaches committed suicide today after the long list of felony charges were filed earlier relating to the Nassar scandal

And we will NOT mention the coward’s name here. Just hope Kai is ok mentally. It appears she dealing with it based on her Instagram posts.

I don't think there are any winners here, even with his suicide. There won't be any closure especially for many of the kids that were coached by him for years. I'm sure many had great experiences, while others did not. Its a lot to take and to grasp emotionally.

With that said, I'm glad Kai is at LSU being able to enjoy her final years in this sport and having the chance to go out on a good note.

I wish they would stop with Christina...but maybe it will go ok. She must practice well, it just comes to hitting (and not hurting herself!)
