Alyona's beam exhibition looked GREAT. She should challenge for the lineup with that

Bryant should still win SEC Freshmen of the week, highest AA score (for a frosh) and won the AA. frick those judges.... She had our 4th highest floor score, thats beyond laughable.

The exhibitions on vault, beam and floor show great promise down the road. Ballard I just think looks like a natural and I think her style would score well with the judges. Just needs more reps.

Alyona grew up tonight IMO. Her gymnastics across the board was wonderful (except the DLO but I will blame Jay instead of her for having that in her bars lol)

I wish Bryant would do her other dismount on bars. Feels like a ruby Harold situation where its 9.9+ every time but doesn't get that score because of the dismount.

Still a bit confused we are using Arenas on beam but not bars (her best event). That to me is the most puzzling thing.

Kamryn Ryan's vault is gonna be incredible. Alyona is just improving each week.

Update on LSU's recruits

K. Johnson had a big vault at her opening meet and scored a 9.775 and had a solid bars set which went 9.700. She did have some mistakes on beam but the entire competition all had mistakes throughout. They had some elite gymnasts in this meet as well (Sloane Blakely, Emma Malabuyo, Sydney Barros). She didn't do floor opening meet, maybe that is a good thing considering how everyone else did.

Annie Beard had a great beam set scored 9.65.

The floor must have been from Montreal looking at the other scores, everyone did badly on floor it appears.

Although I do not care for Utah, I love watching O’Keefe do her double Arabian bars dismount. Sticks it almost every time.

I was watching Missouri the other day, it got me thinking. Missouri's Alisa Sheremeta does a twisting dismount. Alyona actually twists pretty well, I'm curious if they would ever try that. Alyona already has an E release, connected into the pak, which is additional bonus.

Yeah the Ray to pak is more than enough bonus for Alyona. And yes, I’ve seen Sheremeta’s dismount. It’s one that I really like. But you know how stubborn Jay is. He won’t even change Haleigh’s dismount to her more consistent one.

I don't know how consistent her double front half is in practice but it looked great at 101. The double front is crazy hard to land.

I really pray Elena gets a shot on bars soon. She looked great all fall and thats her best event. Dean is serviceable but Brock's routine cannot be something we throw out in post season.

Yeah I was confused why Brock exhibitioned on bars last night when she already competed in the first meet on bars. Why wouldn't they give Arenas a chance since that's her best event? Is she injured?

I really think Arkansas gets into the night session at SECs this year over Georgia. UGA’s team looked very unconditioned last night. I’ve said it before, but i really think we have a world class medical staff, rehab/trainers/nutritionists, and strength and conditioning team. That’s a big advantage over all of our SEC rivals. I am worried with so many potentially broken elites going to UF next year. Florida has an ok record of rehabbing athletes, but i would hate to see an over trained athlete like Riley turn out like Peyton Ernst.

UCLA post K. Ross is turning out about how I expected. They miss her a lot.

It is a first meet, so they will get better but definitely some big routines are missed.

Re UCLA, the problem isn't just Ross's four routines but also Hano's 3-4 events, Kramer's 2, Grace Glenn's beam, Kocian's bars...

Reminds me a bit of when LSU lost Finnegan's class. You simply cannot replace all those dynamite routines in one offseason. It takes some time to build that back up.

UCLA does have some very good young kids but COVID has made things difficult for every program this offseason. Much less reps w/ restrictions and everyone went into preseason behind due to all the gyms being closed across the country last summer/spring. This is why I think we are seeing a lot of very up and down meets right now and will probably see it throughout the year.

Seems like Alyona can't hit a layout position on beam either Her routine has so much potential but it's marred by that dumpy "layout" dismount.

Her and Arenas seriously need new beam dismounts. Just do a gainer pike off the end of the beam.

Please Ashleigh!

Is there a place online where we can see judges scoresheets from specific meets? Seems to me I recall there is a place where they upload those. I wanted to see Bryant's floor routine scoresheet as to why it was scored 9.85.

She had been waiting for a school to offer, but the longer the wait, more it looks like elsewhere. She has been entertaining Georgia recently.

That would be a big loss considering her capabilities on literally every event. Big 1.5 vault, beautiful bars with tight form, steady on beam with high level of difficulty, and a powerful tumbler

Also, there is chatter right now that Haleigh received a deduction for not meeting requirements

If it’s the issue of not having a back tumbling element - it shouldn’t be as long as she did her stand alone back tumbling element that she normally has her routine. A.1 neutral deduction, however incorrectly applied, would make sense in terms of how they reached the score...

From doing additional research, she is “missing an up to a level requirement”. She is getting hit for not having 3 acrobatic flight elements in a row. Haleighs second pass only does two. It’s insane when she already does two E passes. The code is dumb.

Supposedly another SEC coach brought this up after LSUs last meet and turned her in for this issue. LSU will have to adjust her routine now to meet the requirement.
