Presley's gymnastics reminds me so much of Jessie Jordan's - which is a huge compliment for any gymnast.

Skye never really impressed me before. Granted, her front tumbling on beam is really awesome and a huge point getter, but again, she never hit it, so what's the point. But... she's on fire right now and hitting everything - and who knew she had a Cheng?? Before this year, she was one of those recruits that I wish we had, but I wasn't sore went somewhere else. But now... It hurts she's going to Florida. I think she makes the team this year and might even knock Jade out. Trials is going to be crazy in a good way!!
Ugh... one thing I did forget to mention from the Intrasquad that really disappointed me- Kiya competed a 3 pass floor routine. There is no need for her to be ending floor with the same double pike. Granted she does it beautifully, but that's just additional pounding on her body that just isn't needed.

Intrasquad was great. They actually fielded two full teams going head to head with 6 athletes (at least) going on each event. Some things that stood out:
1. Looked so much more polished than even 2 weeks ago. They look great.
2. I really think we only saw one full in the vault lineup - from KJ. But it's been two days so there could have been one more. Amari had a huge 1.5 on vault with a big pop off the table. Chase followed her with more height than last year and stuck hers cold.
3. On bars, we finally saw a double tuck dismount! It came from Amari in combo with a clear-hip. Konnor added a pretty 1/2 in 1/2 out dismount and Alyona still had the same dismount, but she did stick on Friday.
4. Beam was a stick-a-thon until Konnor, who had a large leg up on her series and then randomly fell on her low beam choreo. I don't know her routine well enough to know what happened; at first I thought she was hurt but I think that's just the face she made for falling on something like that. Regardless, there were only two girls left and they got rattled. Kiya had a huge bend at the waist on her series and then Aleah fell on her series. Would have been nice to see hits after a fall, so we'll just need to watch that moving forward. But that was the third rotation and we basically had 27-27 stuck routines to that point (little things here in there, but all hits)
5. Did not see Konnor on floor, she did a double on vault to the resi that was kind of low, but would have been to her feet on the floor I think (everyone is always different with how skills translate from resi to floor so without seeing her everyday, there's really no telling.)
6. Saw everyone in an event (that you would expect) except Elena, Jillian, Kai and Bryce. Bryce was only listed for vault but she must have scratched

Alyona, Kai, and I think Elena were not in leos - but I didn't see any signs of injury. Jay did say they've had a bug going around the gym, so maybe just that.

Intra squad on Friday looked great. Everyone hit - no falls.
I didn't know this, but evidently the NCAA did eliminate volunteer coaches and raised the set limit from 3 to 4 coaches.
Here is an article about it:

I agree, SOME college, but just not at LSU, OU, UCLA, Utah, or Florida on a full ride. She can walk on to any of those programs, but she will not get offered a full ride from those programs with her current execution. I can see her excelling at UNC, Kentucky, or Pitt.

She’s a 5 star??? That’s Exhibit A for why CGN rankings aren’t accurate.
I can see her walking on at LSU or another top program, but i feel like scholarship offers will not come from any of the power programs.
Powerful athlete, useful vault potential, but everything else has too many built in deductions beginning with her round off all the way through her toes on almost every skill.

OMG, the amount of people commenting on Jay that can’t even do a cartwheel is killing me. Trust me, as someone that has been there, done that, and competed that, Jay put the best lineup he had on the floor tonight.
Everyone needs to calm down and realize this team is VERY good! Tonight doesn’t matter - and we still scored a score that will boost our NQS score. Was it a complete meet, absolutely not. Was it what i was hoping for - nope! But it still allows us to drop a 196.

Ok y’all, i have seriously stopped following this post because everyone is so negative. But… that said, the beam rotation grew a ton tonight. However, I think more credit should be how much Gnat grew! She’s understanding how to get her rotation prepared to compete - you just don’t randomly hit 5 routines in a row… that’s coaching too! Good job Gnat!!
It was ugly, and it’s not a score want, but i do think judging was a little tight, especially on the last two rotations. That said, this team is still growing and learning, they’ll be pretty hard to beat come March

Ugh these down votes… really hoping they’re just bitter UCLA fans.
Ok, for tonight, let’s make sure we’re all realistic. There’s going to be lots of rust and a few big scores not available. I think we all need to remember, any improvement over Week 1 should be viewed as a good thing. Let’s all stay positive and although this team is incredibly capable of going 198+, I’d still be happy with a 197.1

Not to change the discussion, because it’s very relevant and needed, but was anyone else just massively impressed with KJ on beam? She’s just a few tweaks away from scoring 9.90 there as well! She’s going to be a beast in the future!
Whoa!! I missed all this Alexis stuff! But to answer your question, if Alexis transfers and is enrolled she can compete with the team. Classes start this week - so, it’s a complete possibility. There is no mandatory waiting period anymore.
But… just because she has a routine from UCLA, doesn’t mean Jay would compete the same routine. I imagine she spends a few weeks just getting adjusted and reworking routines.

Where they were icing Haleigh’s foot on the broadcast (she was standing on the ice pack) you would imagine it has something to do with her plantar fascia ligament. As someone mentioned on the other thread, you can clearly see her say “it pooped, i heard a pop.” If that’s what it is, it might just be a few weeks until we see her again. Even if she did tear it, most times surgery isn’t required. Fingers crossed on a speed recovery regardless!

Yeah, a lot of weird down votes lately. Obviously, other schools who are so jealous of us all they can do is stare at our blogs all day. Remember, people hating you is a sign of respect
Crisis adverted... I rewatched the interview this morning (no idea why I could not rewind last night) but he was saying Alyona will be in the AA tonight... I told y'all i was 1/2 listening. No Aleah tonight and KJ on two events today.
Sorry for any concerns!! LOL - I was hoping someone else has seen it.

AUGH!!! Like an idiot - i wasn’t paying attention at the 1/2 time portion of the lady tigers basketball game. Imagine my surprise when i do look back to see Jay talking lineups for tomorrow. He said to expect to see Sami in the AA (like wow!!) and to not expect Aleah tomorrow night. But that’s literally all i caught!! Anyone see any more of it that can comment on what he said?
Edited: I put a note below, he was talking about alyona but they were showing video of Sami

Hey everyone!! It’s meet week!! I know there are a lot of people on this thread that follow LSU gymnastics but don’t understand the scoring. Trust me, you’re not alone, but Spencer from the Balance Beam Situation posted another quick (albeit deep) tutorial for everyone on each event.

First off, if you don’t read his content, start immediately. He’s hilarious and stays very unbiased and tells it very much like it is. Secondly, don’t worry if all his terminology goes over your head. Just keep it in your back pocket, and as you learn more and more about gymnastics, it’ll begin to make more sense to you.
