Cowan and Coen posted some training vids on their IG, looking really good as fall approaches.

Really intrigued to see Coen's full bar set

Cowan with a 1.5, I didn't see that coming. The form in the air is good so it's a question of the landing. Vault is going to have plenty of options.

Would like to see a full set from Coen eventually. Glad to see her out there since she's been out from competition for so long

I think she should have tried to go somewhere else before going to coach with her mom. It looks like nepotism to the outside world.

I’ve seen a lot of people saying this on Twitter. So what? It’s not like she isn’t someone that has any experience. It would be different if she had no experience as a gymnast or was a walk-on who never competed. 80% of the people talking smack probably are just mad because she was an LSU gymnast and LSU is the most hated school in NCAA gym.

Oh I get that but she really doesn’t have any coaching experience so I think she could have avoided all of this if she would have gone and been a volunteer coach for a year somewhere else. I’ll be interested to see how long she stays at NC

She did at LSU this past year.

She wasn’t actually a volunteer coach, but was instead a graduate assistant.

I think there is nepotism everywhere, so this doesn’t particularly bother me on its face. I just also don’t think she has any actually coaching experience at this level, so it will remain to be seen if it is a good choice. I hope it is. (like I have similar thoughts about Ashleigh Gnat, who did at have at least one year of experience before coming back here, but she still has a pretty big lack of experience)

Zoe Miller nails a huge 14.750 on UB at Core Classic and twerks (wasn’t too graphic, very much a TikTok trend) after sticking her dismount. Turns out Simone Biles bet her $200 she wouldn’t do it. Biles already posted on social media that she lost the $200 and she looks thrilled. Lol

Kailya is such an underrated star…anyone know if she’s still training bars? If she can pull off a ~13 on bars she could seriously be top ten at nationals. She’s known for floor but her beam and vault were great too this weekend.

Valeri’s athletes did terribly this weekend- I think they averaged over 1 fall on every event. I’m glad Konnor’s not there anymore. (Kailya is also at WOGA but the other location)

Side note: I noticed Jenny and Owen were there coaching Leanne and they rotated with two uncommitted 2025 stars from WCC…

TB, can either Lincoln or Miller cross over to softball? Can either of them pitch or hit?

been doing a little research on our team lately. We are stacked this upcoming season with the addition of Konnor. Yall think we get the preseason number 1 ranking?

It will be and should be OU until someone can actually dethrone them. LSU will be in the top 4 to start the year

I know they won the championship the past two years obviously but are they reloading? Or another veteran team coming in? Or is it just because they won the past two championships? Not a popular opinion but Florida should have won the championship last year. Judges screwed them.

Yeah they have a really really good incoming class with Addison Fata, Hannah Scheible (scored over 39.0 at JO level many times), Caitlin Smith, Keira Wells (39.0 + JO scorer). And then they added more depth in talent with transfer Soraya Hawthorne who will probably thrive and not be wasted much like she was at Georgia under CKC.

They will be very tough and loaded again. Like I said before, LSU will be as loaded talent wise and depth wise probably since the 2018 team when we had Finnegan, Hambrick, etc.

The tale of the season will be how LSU adjusts and progresses on beam and bars this offseason. To compete for a national title, you really need to be able to hit a 49.500+ on every apparatus. The addition of Konnor this offseason Is a game changer for our beam rotation but we will have to work out those last couple spots and find a suitable leadoff. Gnat really needs to focus on the execution of leaps this offseason and fall because at nationals this is where LSU got hit very hard and there was a noticeable difference from the rest of the pack. On bars, we have a bunch of solid routines but we got to dig in deeper and start developing more 9.9+ routines. We have a lot of routines which mostly only got 9.85-9.90 range. Minus Bryant, we need a couple more routines getting 9.925s and 9.95s, that is where you will see a jump in the rotation score. Aleah could be one of those with a consistent dismount. The addition of Coen and Drayton could be of significant help as well. We know Savannah will help us here as well.

I agree with everything you said…though depending on how nationals goes, I think fatta may defer even though she is an incredibly long shot for the Olympics. She originally said she wasn’t, but then she kind of backtracked it - I think she may want to st least try to make trials which is a huge accomplishment in the US. So we’ll see on that front.

I also think the real place where the rubber hits the road is how Jay uses the 5th years - some hard decisions will have to be made to get to the absolute best lineups. I hope that Jay can make them.

That huge score might very well be her ticket to the Olympics.

Derrian Gobourne interviewed Zoe and Zoe said she's considering getting dual nationality (father is Jamaican) so that would increase her chances of making it to the Olympics:

Lincoln’s potential is crazy. Everything she does is so effortless. Hard to find that level of power paired with flexibility

I found this interesting and wonder if NCAA judging on beam applies these deductions throughout the conferences. I have seen a lot of college beam routines where they do show these adjustments.

Costly adjustment deductions on beam in the COP 2022-2024 that are often overlooked when gymnasts are training routines.

There are 9 adjustments:

1.Extra step backward after LOSO
2.Step with a slow, simple arm wave
3.Extra step forward followed by posing
4.Extra step backward to prepare for the next element
5.Extra step backward with simple arm wave
6.Extra step forward with tiny movement of one arm
7.Extra step forward with tiny movement of two arms ( Step 1)
8.Extra step forward with tiny movement of two arms (Step 2)
9.Leg movement with a simple arm circle

So the 2022-2024 COP is a blow to beam routines that take extra steps with simple arm movements.
