Do y'all think its possible Alabama's recent success and the number of first round draft choices they have had on the offensive line had something to do with Cam signing with Bama?

Sure, but he also didn't care for Stud as a coach. Its never just one factor, don't mean to simplify it but all else equal, my statement makes a difference.

So our old OC goes there and gets canned , and our OL guy goes there too? Was Crowton still there to hire him?

No, Crowton was only there one year: 2011.

not buying all this bs about bama budget. sure they have a bigger budget but bama has nothing to do with the position we are in with johnson, jackson, merritt, tillery etc. besides, georgia, aTm, auburn seem to be recruiting well this year. our situation is not ALWAYS all about the tide.

Tell him how much LTs make in the NFL. 3rd most important position in football

I am sure he knows how much Haynesworth signed a contract for too...or Gerald McCoy or Haloti Ngata. The comparisons between DT and LT are not as far off as you think...especially if you are at the top of either. On average, LT is higher, but I don't think Tillery will be average nor would he think of himself as such.

Wouldn't you think that our head coach being a former OL would be able to help recruit in the trenches? I know he really does not have any specialized area but come on. Think the top OL in the state might be a priority? We already lost Cam who walked right into the #1 ranked team in the country and started at LT.

I told you for several years LSU's presence in the area dropped significantly. I told you last year Bama was out working LSU and here all the time. People would rather blame bag men instead of what a recruit just told you. This past year West Monroe hosted Neville for the Spring Game, 2 of the best programs in the state. There were coaches from Bama, McNeese, Tech, Arkansas, Southern Miss, etc., but no one from LSU. How does that happen?

Hopefully Miles has righted the ship on this. There are some studs coming up in this area the next few years. Hell there always is...

I believe you, but how does this happen? Seriously, how? That is just sad. If I am the head coach for LSU, or an assistant for that matter, I don't see how I could let this happen.

This just bothers me so much. The past is the past, but if it happened once, I would think it could happen again.

I hope it was just the area recruiter and he just wasn't doing his job.

North Louisiana was Stud's area.

He gone.

Agree, Duckie. The part about the budget cannot be understated.

His quotes, I read them all, do not sound overly enthusiastic toward us. We may have had a hiccup initially but we have been giving this young man and his parents the full court press for a long time. If he doesn't come, it won't be because we did something wrong, it will be because his heart is somewhere else.

How about TCU? Surely LSU has a bigger budget than TCU. Doesn't stop them from setting up shop in WM.

A couple of points. First, what is Miles supposed to do for those who say he is ultimately responsible. "Hey Mr Great Tackle, you need to come to LSU but please don't check into how many OL our coach has put into the pros." Laughable that some think the HC can do squat if the OL coach isn't producing as far as a recruit goes. What Les Miles can do...he did. That is getting rid of an OL coach who isn't doing his job on the field and in recruiting.

Second, for those who take Cameron Robinson or any other LA recruit at face value when they say why they didn't sign with LSU, you guys aren't gullible right? I mean what better way to escape local criticism from hometown folks than to say "they didn't want me" or "they didn't recruit me hard enough" or "they didn't offer me early enough." It couldn't be a deflection mechanism to get the monkey off their own back right? Nah, it couldn't be that.

What monkey? Kid started from day 1 at LT, is in the SECCG, and will likely be in the first ever playoffs. How can you possibly say he made the wrong choice?

being the recipients of LSU recruiting cast offs doesn't equal "setting up shop"... i agree with your angle, that LSU needs to value North LA much more than they currently seem to, but 9 out of 10 if LSU is going head to head with TCU for a prized recruit, LSU wins that battle....

TCU's entire DLine is from WM. LSU offered none. Seems that they missed on their evaluations.
