Not from Louisiana so I see comments like westgate isn’t lsu friendly (people also said this about many until singleton signed) what’s the back story behind this? Or is it just that Danny Lewis and Williams didn’t sign?

I know Kayshon was from there. But since that we had missed out on some big time prospects from there so I think people felt like we were starting to fall behind. Antoine was considered a Texas lean for awhile(per Shea and Billy at On3) but the tide is starting to turn.

Yeah saw that he was a Texas lean, I guess Raymond swung it back to the good guys

I think it's overblown a bit. We don't get them all from there, and even when we do, it's usually a dogfight. Look at the talent that comes out of there though.

This just flat out isn’t true. He has been leaning to LSU well before Raymond was announced

I think Raymond being let go when Brian Kelly was hired left a bad taste in the New Iberia area where he is from. There was rumors of Danny Lewis picking Bama because they offered him a NIL deal of $30K when we didn’t offer him anything. Derek Williams was about the bag and Texas made him sign something that he wasn’t allowed to visit any school after agreeing to whatever his NIL deal was going to be.

Was hearing that he really liked Michigan and didn’t like LSU. With the coaching change at Michigan and the hiring of Raymond, the script was flipped.

With ole Nicky gone I think the north LA area is now ours for the taking and BK has made headway in west LA

Raymond is from New Iberia. The kids there value that.

Westgate has really only come on strong with recruits here in the last 5-6 years. Before Kayshon, I can’t remember a big time recruit come out of there. You had Jared Mitchell, but he was much more of a baseball prospect than football. But between Mitchell and Kayshon, I can’t remember a ton of recruits coming out of Westgate. Not like today at least. There was a tight end a few years before Kayshon, but I can’t remember his name.

I’m just repeating what Shea would say on his podcasts and as a guest on other podcasts.

Well that's illegal.

Westgate has really started producing talent in the last few years and part of that was the end of O era and transition to new staff. As long as lsu is a contender and remains competitive in the NIL market , there won't be problems at Westgate. Derek Williams was really the only loss , Danny Lewis wouldn't play much at lsu(he's at Bama)
