QB’s to go after in the Portal

LSU has to be aggressive in the portal for a QB this year. Mel Kiper has Nuss as the #7 QB prospect in this year’s NFL draft, likely 2nd - 3rd round. Despite his decision, we’ve got to get a stud QB in the portal IMO. A lot of football still left to be played this year so who know all of the names that might come up but here’s some potential options so far.
Jackson Arnold from Oklahoma, a talented 5* who didn’t seem to fit in well in that offense. With Joe Sloan’s guidance, could he progress to a solid SEC starter? He’s mobile and has a live arm, worth a look.
Miller Moss from USC threw for 2555 yards 18 TDs and 9 pics this year, losing his job towards the end of the season. Too many pics caught up to him but he’s talented and has a lot of experience. He plans to visit Mizzou this week but could LSU be interested? We’ll see.
Julian Sayin is currently #3 on the depth chart at Ohio State. He’s not in the portal yet but only a matter of time before the 5* makes a move. They’ve got Tavien St Clair coming in who Rivals ranked ahead of Underwood for this year’s QB class. Sayin chose Bama over us in the past but he’s got a relationship with Sloan that was built with his recruitment and he was strongly considering the Tigers back then. Personally, I’d like to see Sloan make this one happen.

There was a time that we were in the mix for Sayin. Maybe he gives us another look.

No top qb in the portal is coming to LSU if Nuss stays.
If Nuss goes pro, LSU should be in the mix for most all top qb transfers. LSU has produced two Heisman winners in the last ten years, its a perfect destination for a top transfer who wants to start at a big time school.
My guess is that Nuss has given Kelly a good idea of his plans. If not, he needs to do so asap to be fair to LSU.

This year 7th QB taken was Rattler, 5th round.

Bit of trivia. Ty Thompson, the borderline 5 star QB for Oregon's class of 21', who some LSU fans were wanting, is sitting on the Tulane bench.

So who would you take a flyer on between Arnold and Sayin? Arnold obviously has game reps, but with questionable results. Sayin hasn't gotten PT, but is behind an experienced, highly regarded starter.
Both could be very good with then right development, but honestly I don't know who has the most upside.

He meant John Mateer, QB at Washington State.
