This is truly great news but the best news is being overlooked. Mett goes pro next year after winning the National Championship. So the good news is the rant will have a hissyfit when Rivers starts the following year. More qb arguments on the rant and more $$$ for tigerdroppings.
as soon as he throws a pick, there will be people wanting to see the other guys.

Rettig's a pure passer
May 221:24PM ETBy Tom Luginbill
ESPN.com Hayden Rettig (Los Angeles/Cathedral) is another player in a long line of quality pro-style guys in this class and fits the type of player both Steve Kragthorpe and Greg Studrawa would like to have under center at LSU.
He is a sound and polished player fundamentally that can play from both under center and out of the shotgun and gives LSU an upgrade in the passing game as far as pure passers go. With the addition of Rettig, the Tigers will have a passer first that will not need much technical honing.

Has he visited out here? And no, I'm not reading the entire thread. If not, what's his connection here? Lesticles?

Not concerned. Unlike Kiel, he wants to leave the state and it was either auburn or Oklahoma before us. His brother plays at Boston College so his family has no issue with distance.

I cant wait till he meets some of our guys this weekend and starts to build that bond with them.
Do any of you guys knows who else will be at the picnic?

If James Frankin of Vandy and Rich Rod was recruiting him then he has to be a good one! Welcome aboard!!!

Awesome news. I think this commit will stick. Props to Kragthorpe. I'm anxious to hear his comments after visiting this weekend.

Would be surprised if this one sticks but if so, think LSU got a damn fine QB. Looks very sound and has a good arm.

I will still sweat this one out until NSD...until I hear the fax machine make sparks.
That being said, I am absolutely pumped about this verbal. What a catch.

His film is all positives. Nothing really to even nitpick over. Guy has serious tools.
I feel like I just jumped in a pool after hiking the desert for a year.
When he threw that 50-yard rainbow bomb to his receiver in stride...and then did it again...and again...I think we have our QB.

Best qb we could have possibly gotten that wasn't committed elsewhere. Big time talent and was very highly regarded before his injury. Top of the class type regarded. We should all be very thrilled with this one.
Also caught me completely by surprise. Have not once heard LSU and Rettig together. Didn't even know we had offered or had seen him. Also a little strange that he hasn't visited but word was that he wanted a major program and as I said in the Rettig thread yesterday, his offer list was not very strong in respect to the schools left that didn't have a commit so he'd be ripe for the taking if we offered.
Not concerned about a decommit. That is a very unhealthy way to go through recruiting as a fan. As already has been posted, USC has their guy and Tedford/Cal has theirs. Not worried about UCLA at all even with Mora. This kid doesn't have a momma making his decisions for him. Don't let the Kiel situation cloud your thought process about other qb recruits. Most qb recruits that commit ,stick and by most I mean in the 85-90% range if not higher. Qb recruiting is a completely different dynamic than any other position.
Great pickup imo

I get what you are saying. But I always worry about good recruits from across country. These are 17 year old kids.

Exactly. When was the last time you saw a QB doing the whole hat thing on national signing day?
