Purdue Nic Scourton, the Big Ten’s sack leader, is expected to enter the transfer portal this week, sources confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound DE/OLB had 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 50 tackles and 28 quarterback hurries this season in 11 games for the Boilermakers.

Scourton, a former four-star recruit, is expected to become a hot commodity in the portal. His combination of size, explosive power and agility makes him an intriguing piece with the versatility to jump into roles, ranging from being used as an interior defensive lineman to an edge rusher depending on the scheme he goes to

Don’t know if we’d even pursue or have a chance, but he’s from Texas and looks like a great get in a position of need.

That’s a shame. Rats off a sinking ship, and he wants to climb aboard?

Ah, actually from there. Probably makes sense for him.

Nobody could actually enjoy being an Aggie

Guaranteed he isn’t coming for cheap but he could be “one of them”

It's super early but that just the word I am hearing talking to some of them. LSU just sitting on the sidelines waiting to make staff changes in la la land for now

yeah that's definitely an issue because it's the portal right now is where most of the "good" players transfer like a free agency. That second portal window are players who got passed up

Although I'm sure Kelly is well aware of this and has it under control.

It's a sad situation. Even if he is waiting to make staff changes, he still needs to add players on the defensiv3 side

From what kelly said it sounds like they are happy on the dline and think almost everyone will be back.

I feel like Wingo is going to declare. I didn't at first but now I get the feeling he will.

They do it's just the way BK has chosen to handle it has some/most of the fan base frustrated. But he said he wasn't going to be portal heavy and wanted to lean on high school.

Sure the cop out is blaming the mess this year on House which can be true but the portal also got us in this roster mess so I have to agree with Kelly

That’s not really a position of need with the young talent we have there and more coming in this class. We need much more help at DT and CB than Jack or DE with as few rosters spots we will have available.

So he changed his name... when I coached at Bryan High, he was Nic Carraway. He was living with the principal and his wife. The principal had a son the same age and they were both on the football team. He used to come talk to me a lot after lunch as I had a desk in the football coaches office. Really nice kid, real popular at school, and he and his teammates came to almost every home softball game.

I'm surprised he's using his dad's last name now.. He was our best football player by far... I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to go back to A&M, but I don't remember A&M really recruiting him. I was only at BHS his senior year when I was asked to come out of retirement and become interim head softball coach that year.

kid is from Bryan so that makes sense. He may want to play closer to family, and Aggie has the $$$ to fill vacant positions. However, I wouldn't rule out Georgia or maybe even Louisville as a long shot. Chidera Uzo-Diribe was Scourton's lead recruiter 2 years ago while at SMU. He is currently coaching OLB's at UGA. Recruits don't forget relationships and Scourton could play for a NC at Georgia.

Mark Hagen was this kid's lead recruiter and landed him at Purdue. Hagen is currently coaching the DL at Louisville.
