Bama doesn’t need Ish. Simple as that

I think he really wants to go to Alabama and Saban is calling his bluff. We'll see who blinks.

Seems obvious he's trying to pressure Bama since he already has that offer from LSU and he hasn't taken it. It's similar to asking a girl to go to prom and having her turn to someone else with you standing there and asking them if they were planning on asking her. It's pretty disrespectful and immature.

Look, I get it. These are kids and I'm not trying to bash him. It's expected for them to do stuff like this at their age.

What I'm really trying to say is that I feel bad for these coaches some times. Here they are grown men and they have to put up with this because they are dealing with kids. If they took the high road or got offended every time one of these kids did something immature or disrespectful, they wouldn't land anyone. It's probably the biggest reason why some of these coaches just can't recruit very well. They don't have the stomach for it.

If Ish and Rodney were serious they would have both signed w/ LSU when we met their demands...Coach O should say to Ish and Rodney to sign a few days before National Signing Day or we pull Rodney’s scholly. If LSU doesn’t do this we are in a position to get played and miss out on Ish and our plan B. All of this tells me LSU isn’t #1 on Ish’s list and Saban controls how this plays out.

I can not say I feel good about this.

The thing is Lanard was actually recruited, he went to camps and got evaluated. He was even ranked higher than Foster Moreau on 247. He probably could have went to Tulane and played there.

The point is that LSU has done just that. Yet, the auction, errr...recruitment continues? If the decision is COMPLETELY contingent on his brother also getting a scholarship and LSU is the ONLY school that has offered as much, then why has he not signed with LSU? The only logical conclusion is that LSU is not his top choice and he's hoping that top choice (whoever it is) meets his demand.

You think this because you don't know all the public comments made by Ish Sopsher...in other interviews, he also wants to make his signing a "big event"...my spin on it is he wants to make it a "family event" on TV on National Signing Day...they want a big splash...thus, undeclared/no verbal until they fax in "both" LOIs in February.

This is what Ish is on the record saying...so while your logical conclusion is a realistic possibility, LSU could really be his top choice...he just likes keeping everyone in suspense and ramping up the hype...some of these kids are real egomaniacs and super narcissistic...it's the youth culture we have empowered in today's society..."its all about me"...all self-centered...

This has an equal-weight of possibility.

Take both, its worth it, odds are Ish will pan out and Rodney will be part of the kids that never pan out statistic. Its an arms race, and when you are in an arms race, you give nothing to the enemy if at all possible. We are in an arms race with Bama...its as simple as that.

Have a friend who is a huge Bammer that seems to think Ish will sign with Bama right after Rodney signs with LSU. Something similar happened with Auburn a few years back.

Apparently Bama just has absolutely zero room for Rodney- they’ve even got two 4 stars who are essentially gray shirting.

He seconded what VolTiger confirmed in another thread. Sophsher and family strong arming Saban and Saban called their bluff. He turned down a package deal that cost him Keenan Allen so he’s done it before.

If the LSU coaches take a LOI from Rodney without already having verified (not just received) Ish's, the entire football staff and recruiting department should be fired immediately.

Not possible. Rodney won't get his papers till we get the signed papers from Ish.

There is zero chance this happens. None. Our staff isn't dumb despite what many people around here want to believe.

They could have room, they're just not willing to make the room. Apparently they might take as many as 30 players this year.

Then he should commit to LSU for being the first and only school to do it not wait on Bama. That's chicken shite if you ask me.

What I hope happens is we get the DLman we want and need then he's stuck without an offer for his brother at a big school or any school for that matter. He's letting Bama string him along. I will never understand these kids.

It sounds as if he’s being told to wait till NSD by a few schools so they can see what kind of room they have for Rodney once their pieces fall into place.

Well one school (LSU) has purportedly already told him those pieces are in place. So if that is the school you really want to attend, then why would you need to wait to see what the other schools can do with their numbers? LSU has (again purportedly) already figuratively (perhaps literally) cut the check to pay the asking price. Thus, there is no reason to wait unless you really don’t want to go to LSU and are hoping someone else agrees to pay your price at the last minute.

Very insightful post...that's why we are playing the game...and it is a "kids" game and an arms race all in one. Our current culture is dictating the rules...on very immature ground rules.

It is what it is...nothing the coaches can do to change our entire culture...if they buck it, they lose.

I know it's been brought up before but is Rodney even going to be eligible? I know the whole juco thing but is he taking courses online or anything? I would think at least one of our insiders would be looking into it. It's all moot if he isn't gonna be eligible. Also, as with Pickens why waste a signee spot on a kid that isn't gonna qualify?

Screw him, No. 1 DT in the country, I don't buy this BS. Big and strong, maybe. Other than that, Ish is fat, lazy and takes EVERY play off. If you don't believe me, ask any high school coach that has viewed his game film. Certainly NOT worth 2 scholarships. I'm hearing Saban has lost interest in him. Suppose Emery and Stingley want their friends or relatives to get scholarships too, where does it end.
