That may have been Kelly's original plan, but when more players transfer out after the bowl game, and then after spring, I think he will have no choice but to grab a few more.
They are at 7 now. I'll be shocked if they don't sign t least 5 more and as many as 15 total through the portal.
We will likely have around 20 players leaving in the portal, maybe more.

He never said he was announcing 10 today. He gave a projection of how many they anticipated on the roster for next year. Reading comprehension!

Players are only regulated on entering the portal. They can sign on elsewhere anytime. Below is a paragraph from an ESPN article from a few weeks ago.

I think this will be interesting. So as of today we have 32 newbies:
25 high schoolers
7 transfers
Kelley said we'd have mid-to-high 30s, so to me that's likely another 3-5? Someone with more time on their hands will have to determine how many scholarship players we have now- I suspect we'll get to 85 from the transfer portal in May, and maybe a few walk-ons might earn one as well.

I think he meant 8-10 total. So depending on what happens with the freshman class they still have room for a few more spots.

Nope he had said earlier in the week, 8-10, and said a day and half ago more in the 7-8 range. I read this in n Shea’s Portal report today
