Brian Kelly has put as many tight ends in the NFL as anybody out there and we are desperate for a tight end and Lewis is from La so only explanation is NIL and a charger

I agree, but he might want a ring, too? Maybe it's important to some kids to just be a role player and get the ring, which I have no reason to doubt Saban will continue to do.
It really doesn't make sense so you're right there are incentives other than playing time and player development he's factoring.

I’m failing to see how this was some huge loss.
It would have been nice to have him but it’s not like he was a day 1 starter.

It’s not a huge loss. Just would have been nice for depth and because he’s an Louisiana player and we had open spots.
Bama is a weird choice for him unless he just wants easyish shot at rings and not play for a few years

He will be at Mcneese or Southern in two years. Saban took him just to mess with us. They probably have walk-on TEs as talented as he is.
