Xzavier McLeod

1) He has a relationship with Lindsey and it shouldn’t take too much effort to get him here.

2) He has the size we need, along with good quickness and explosiveness. His high school HUDL was promising.

3) He’s a class of 2023 recruit with lots of eligibility left. Remember, we didn’t sign a single DT in last year’s high school class. Landing him would give us at least one 2023 guy in the room, as well as one who was highly ranked and recruited.

Taking him feels like a no brainer to me.

1st article doesn't mention why he was dismissed and the 2nd is behind a paywall. Why was he dismissed? Our last guy we took a chance on after being dismissed from his previous team wasn't exactly a successful endeavor lol

Something to do with him wanting to RS but the coach wanted him to play and potentially lose it.

He wanted to redshirt and the staff was pushing him to play. His family talked with the staff and all parties thought it would be best to transfer.

Sorry about that, opened from google with no problems on the first attempt to retrieve the article.

quote from article:

"Freshman defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod was dismissed from the South Carolina football program on Wednesday. McLeod didn’t travel to last weekend’s Missouri game after appearing in four of the Gamecocks’ first six games. Head coach Shane Beamer originally called that a coach’s decision.

McLeod’s father, in a Facebook post, said Xzavier wanted to redshirt this season, something he couldn’t do if he played in a fifth game, and “refused to go to Missouri.” On Thursday, Beamer offered some details to his side of things w..."

Thanks for the info. This definitely seems like a fit with the Lindsey connection as well.

I wonder what is happening with the development of Tygee Hill and Fitz West? I know these guys are behind upper classmen but they are also in the 22-23 class range so would be a bonus if they develop.

I don’t know, if I remember correctly LSU was trending in his recruitment at one point but then it appeared like they backed off. I think something similar happened with the Kentucky staff.

This is fishy. If you have a good player, and as a freshman, he wants to redshirt but you’d like to play him. You would try to convince him, but eventually you’d accept the redshirt rather than lose him. You wouldn’t run him off.

This is a good way for a coach to make a bad name for himself in recruiting circles.

How is he a 4 star and the 22nd ranked DL but Shone Washington is ranked higher and a 3 star?

Interesting that a South Carolina site has him at 284 lbs, not 325.

Still think he deserves interest.

Some of his tape is really good, but the thing that concerns me is it was all done against smaller OL.
