From On3 sports:
“Come home son (Bryce Underwood),” Mathieu wrote on X/Twitter. “We are waiting & will accept you with open arms. FOREVER LSU.”

The New Orleans native, highly regarded as one of the program’s best players of all time, was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2011. He was also named a Consensus All-American and First Team All-SEC selection. With apparent turmoil in Ann Arbor and Lane Kiffin‘s splash hire in Baton Rouge, Mathieu is doing all he can do to bring one of the most electric young players in all of college football to LSU.

I'd take Underwood over the other names I've seen so far. I might be ok with Leavitt if his health wasn't such a question mark.

I love HB a whole lot, but bringing in BU would be backward move for LSU setting back the program at least two years . Bad bad move.

Better then what we have on the roster. That's all that matters. Not sure about the NIL stuff

I'll say it again, the most important part is that TM7 can be a valuable asset to LSU and he's already said he wants to be on staff here. You want to recruit N.O.? He's your guy. You want to groom a possible future safety coach? Mathieu has donated to LSU, talks LSU at every opportunity, he bleeds P&G as much as any former LSU player. He's also the guy that is probable one of the most recognizable and relatable LSU alums to young recruits.

Leavitt has 2 yrs left, 1st can be solid experienced starter who fits lanes system. If hes avg or above avg for sec qb its a hr vs what mvb saga was like watching. And his 2nd yr here could be a big one for lanes 2nd yr

Not necessarily with a Lane Kiffin/Charlie Weis offense

I still want to see Tyrann Mathieu apart of the defensive staff.

I somewhat remember hearing Mathieu is actually a really good x and o type of guy. Would be awesome to see him get some kind of start at LSU.

He has always been a high football IQ guy. Most safeties are and thats why when he transitioned to FS it was easy for him to make all the calls and checks. He is also very technical which would help in teaching technique of the positions.

How so? Based on this year’s stats? Michigan was super conservative with him this year. I think he would thrive under Kiffin.

Agreed! Bringing a hyper talented young QB to a roster that is in desperate need of a hyper talented young QB next season is definitely a major set back. Not sure how our offensive mastermind head coach would be able to dig us out of that sort of situation.

He was terrible this season. If Underwood starts against Clemson, you guys will be begging for Van Buren again.

HB is certainly a former player that can guide a new stud player -- and teach him the "Do's and Dont's", and how to handle life in college, prep for the NFL

I like to think that a Kiffin run offense with an QB would be better than what we had this year.

Underwood is intriguing but we can’t afford him.

We need a Build a TEAM … not one player.
