Eh. If Mettenberger stays the next 2 years and stays healthy, I'm fine with this.

Obviously Rivers and Randall aren't ready.

I'd prefer to have someone with a little experience, I guess. I'm with you guys, Bolden sucks. But if this is just for backup duty and Miles leaves him there and doesn't put him in for that "change of pace" garbage.....I'm fine with it.

On the other hand, if Bolden sees anything other than mop up duty,......

Once Mettenberger and Bolden are done then you have pretty good depth and better options at QB.

Krags has a history of bringing in shitty dual threat QBs or does someone else on the staff?

Coach Krags has watched a ton more tape on Bolden than anyone here & he has to know what kind of potential this kid has. He also knows exactly what he has in our two backups now. If Mett was to go down & these two did not hold up, CLM would be ripped upside down & sideways for not having a contengency plan. And this is exactly what this is.

Correct. But these JackaXXes on here know more than the coaching staff on what is best for LSU. This could end up being a brilliant move, if Mett goes down and we are in the champioship chase. At worst, it is one lost scholarship for a couple of years, that will not make a bit of difference to the future success of LSU.

Just pretend it is the one spot for the recruit who does not pan out. There is at least one of those in every class. This spot will be from the bottom of the offers, not the top.

This is more about some numbskulls' personal prejudices than about LSU football. It about some fan putting their feelings and self interest above LSU Football. How can anyone diss this guy for wanting to come in and help LSU's cause. Or the coaching staff, which is rated among the best in college football, for believing he can do so. We really do have some shi##y people in our fan base.

Like someone previously stated, this guy was the first freshman QB starter at Penn State in more than 100 years. He has potential. With good coaching, he could blossom into an excellent QB. The question is whether one chooses to see the negatives or the positives of the situation. That choice reflects on the chooser, not Bolden. Because there are no minimum qualifications or Rorschach test given, you can find someone to disagree with any and all decisions made by the staff. There are those who would be against having Robert Griffin III as LSU's QB. No more "dual threat" QBs at LSU ever again! It is the nature of the beast.

when the coach literally falls in love with the one and thinks he is "the one" and ruins a national title season to try and win "the one" an MVP trophy then it kinda does.

Agreed, they clearly haven't seen Bolden play nor seen his "ability" at QB

What is the opportunity cost of allowing Bolden to transfer to LSU? We are anxiously awaiting your answer.

I know he will count against the 85, but you are acting like we are going to miss out on a top recruit next year because we added PSU's backup QB. Give it a rest.

You keep saying 2014. How in the hell will he affect 2014? He is not redshirting, which means he will count against our 86 numbers this year and our 85 numbers next year. He will be looking for a job when the 2014 roster rolls around.

last yr (or maybe the prev) we wer willing to tell elliot porter to take a walk b/c of one schollie spot. one spot may or may not make difference but it's certainly a possibility

You keep talking about it costing someone a spot in the 2014 class and it simply isn't true. Because of the situation he will not affect any of our future initial counter limits....and even if he did it would be the 2013 class. He won't even be here in 2014 unless he redshirts, which is extremely unlikely, so he won't affect that year at all. At worst he costs us a spot on the 85 limit in 2013.

Reading comprehension, try it sometime. I said the spot of the recruit that does not pan out. Not someone who becomes a starter. And your scenario does not account for the possibility that Bolden ends up contributing to LSU's success.

My point is, even if it is a Miles' bad decision, it will not have any significant negative impact on LSU's future success. However, it could potentially have a very positive impact on LSU's future success.
Who is in a better position, intellectually and professionally, to make that decision? LSU's staff or you? Or the many rantards who would overule the decision of the staff?

I think if he doesn't play this year-- it's possible. But I don't think it's going to happen. That's why we got him to come in and finish a game as a back up.

They will still have to make the total numbers work when the 2013 class arrives next Summer, but they already had a scholarship allotted to another QB when they signed Liggins, so that part is probably already figured out.

Adding a bad player is a bonus?

He's bad but it isn't like he's coming in here to compete for the starting job this season. Plus...

Maybe Krags can work wonders for him, he has a lot of athletic ability and a strong arm. Who knows...

Exactly my point. There isn't much of a negative to it.
