Is there someone else we could have signed 3 days before camp? If not, how is it a waste?

I still want to know if there are any players with any potential academic problems in the 2013 class.

We could have given a scholarship to our best walk-on QB this year and it would be a better scholarship given out than to Bolden.

Well our best walk-on is already on the team and the coaches know what he is and isn't capable of. If they didn't feel Bolden was worth taking a shot on then I doubt they would have. They may see something they can fix. There is really no downside.

We're talking about a 4th string QB at this point...what do we really have to lose?

If true, welcome aboard big guy. I wonder if we could use him as a slash type guy or a TE, 6'3 215 with speed.

He was pretty bad the last two years. Everyone knows that.

I don't think some of you realize there is literally no down side to this. If he remains that awful then Rivers will beat him out. If he beats out Rivers then we're better off than we were yesterday.

And who is our best walk-on QB since we don't currently show any on the roster?

It's a complete waste, we could take hundreds of guys as bad as him. Easy to say "what do we really have to lose in a 4th string S, 4th string OT, 3rd string FB"...etc...

We could probably use some depth at safety. Are there any guys with starting experience in a BCS conference looking to transfer this week who will also be immediately eligible and not hurt our numbers?

Yes. They might know more than someone on a message board.

It's a scholarship wasted, simple as that

Sure, except you can't name one reason it is a wasted scholarship except we didn't give it to a walk-on QB that apparently doesn't exist. I know you're better than this, so I'll just say nice troll...you got me.

We add someone with actual game experience. We're fricked.

Maybe he just didn't fit with what PSU was running.

Sure we could give the schollie to another backup but what does it matter? It's a walk on. He could transfer and it wouldn't matter. We've been thin crap at QB the last few years. At the very worst he sucks and he's gone in a couple years. At best, mett leaves after this season, rivers or Randall go down and we have a backup with experience.

I don't understand why some of you are fine with wasting a scholarship like this.

He doesn't count against the numbers so what's the problem? Give me a better name to "waste one" on.

I mean it's not like we were stuck with the Jefferson/Lee machine at QB the last 4 years or anything

So adding another QB at virtually no real cost hurts our chances of hitting on one?

The guy may not come in and light it up but if you can get a "free player" with no hits to our cap then you take it. It is really a no lose.

A random walk on...shite nevermind, they'd count against our schollie cap.

Maybe we should give Karnell Hatcher a call...wouldn't mind him at safety again would we? Great experience!

Karnell would count. Bolden wont. Its a scholarship with no penalty other than the $...which lsu ain't hurting for.

2nd time it counts against scholarships. He's only a JUNIOR with 3 years left. You would give up a spot for a 2014 recruit which is a loaded year for Bolden?

Do you not realize we have to give up a spot next year for Bolden? This is part of the PSU transfer rules.

Agreed, they clearly haven't seen Bolden play nor seen his "ability" at QB.

You know he'll stay 3 years AND we'll renew his schollie? Like I said, he's probably got a shot at starting one year. Having an experienced backup never hurts. If he sucks then he's a scout team QB.

Yeah I would give one up if he's worth it. Even in a loaded year the staff will take a rocky duplessis. We skip "that guy" in 2014 and lose essentially nothing. Not every recruit is a "can't miss".

What do we lose by getting him? A possible project in next years class? Big deal. The signing won't hamstring us.

The only game I saw Bolden play was vs Bama last year or the year before ( I don't remember). I would think he'd need to improve a ton before starting anywhere in the SEC any time soon.

Bolden will be the Star Jackson to Mett's Greg McElroy.

We all know he isn't a polished product at this point. But he is there for when we want to rest ZM but aren't comfortable playing a redshirt freshman.

I think we're all holding our breath hoping this doesn't turn into another insane Les Miles "dual threat" QB debacle...we're all a little sensitive to that shite. I don't really think we have anything to be worried about.

Adding a bad player is a bonus? This dude lost his job last year. Maybe Krags can work wonders for him, he has a lot of athletic ability and a strong arm. Who knows...
