1.5million now but has probably cost himself as a potential 1st round pick.

I’ll wager he loses money in the long run from this move

How can anyone be mad that these kids are finding a way to get a slice? It’s not as if the university is paying them.
the university is providing them with free education, the use of billion-dollar facilities, the best in strength and nutrition, tutors, massive exposure playing under the university's valuable brand, etc. And they do get a small stipend of cash.

College athletes are well-compensated for voluntarily signing to play football.

Allowing them to be paid (over the table) and transfer without having to sit out a year, effectively has turned the college game into a pro game, with free agency.

It's being destroyed, right before our eyes.

magine getting paid $1.5 million then having to go to English 1001 where you have more money than your professor
. Just wait until a player is caught attempting to bribe/buying grades from professors. It will happen

Yeah, it used to be coaches who did that.

None of this should prevent them from being able to get an endorsement. Welcome to capitalism, where we don’t prefer a governing body preventing us from earning a living where it doesn’t hurt anyone.

That said, I’ll be the first to agree that what Texas is doing, essentially creating a fund to play players, is a total abuse of the NIL. Presumably that will be addressed at some point as it’s already made waves.

Yes college football is changing, and NIL needs to be cleaned up (already). But end of the day, this is happening. It’s over. Adapt or die.

This has been happening, just not from players. Coaches and boosters, rather.
