It seems really strange for them to have this many transfers off an OL

Notre Dame just made $20m in the CFP and doesn’t have to share it with any other school. Players know Notre Dame can’t replace them this late in the portal this late. I’m sure they all want to be paid accordingly.

I'm afraid Davis having any input in recruitment is not positive for LSU going forward. He has proven to me he can't evaluate or develop players. Any coach that runs #65 on the field at this stage in his development either doesn't have any other option, which is another issue, or he has no idea what skills win at this level. I have no confidence in him whatsoever.

This tells me you don't know shite. Mills jumped in the portal as a "do not contact" and was already heading to UVA. Davis and LSU didn't have a chance to even try for him.

Rocco Spindler from ND also entered the Portal today, along with Pat Coogan. Both would be perfect fits to step right in and start at LSU, but Brad "Sylvester C" Davis says he doesn't want any of those ND OL's playing for him. Connor Moore. Montana State. BD says Nope. Monroe Mills. Louisville. BD says Nope. Rocco Spindler. Notre Dame. BD says Nope Pat Coogan. Notre Dame. BD says Nope.

Kelly and Davis landed two of the top OL players available in the early window and ensured we were stabilized for next season. We also landed two top OL in this year’s recruiting class.

frick off with your moronic, blabbering bullshite. You’ve proven time and time again you don’t know shite about offensive line, or anything else related to college football.

Coogan filled in at center after the original starter was injured. The starter is returning this Spring, so Coogan would have to fight for a job.

He's also a graduate with one year of eligibility remaining, so it makes perfect sense for him to go somewhere he's sure to play if he has NFL aspirations. Hard to impress the NFL scouts from the bench.

Wonder how long it took Kiffin to call?

You’re speaking of Paul Mubenga “#65” and while his first couple games were bad if you paid any attention his last couple were actually pretty good. I think giving a freshman a couple games to get his feet wet is warranted. I suspect if they don’t add anyone else on the OL that he might be the favorite to be the starting LG when we play Clemson assuming Moore is at C with DJ Chester moving to RG and Thompson at RT, Adams at LT. Also don’t sleep on Bo Bordelon winning one of the guard spots. He played awfully well in the bowl game at RG.

Good post. I think could also see a lineup of Adams/Chester/Moore/Thompson/Davis depending on how Weston looks in spring.

Seeing pics of Weston from bowl prep, he’s going to have to add some mass this off season. I’d imagine his strength at the point of attack and ability to hold his ground in pass pro is why he’s not a penciled in as a starter yet. He has great feet but he spent a lot of his high school career playing basketball. Just needs the weight room right now.

I was concerned our o line would have problems in our bowl game without our two starting o linemen who are destined to play pro ball and one being a first round choice and possibly a top 10 pick. Brad Davis coached up plug and play guys and we looked fine in a matter of weeks. Hard to listen negative rants when they are warranted. In fact, as has been pointed out our o line room is good but I would take any of those starting o linemen if it is possible but I trust the coaches.

Dude everyone in the country wanted Thompson from Northwestern. That was a ridiculously good pull. Shut your trap.

We all have our own perspective. #65 w65 hen he went in to replace Dellinger is exactly when LSU offense began to struggle. Halftime against A&M.
I have literally watched #65 every plan in slow motion replay since that game. I have done that for years following every game.
While I wish #65 was improving as you state, I have to say #65 is and remained the entire season, the most unaware and slow reacting, slow moving OLineman I have seen at LSU in a very long time. Since it seems Davis has no one any better, presuming they would be starting, my assumption is that if #65 is in the lineup against Clemson, LSU will have a very difficult time winning that game. That will mean that Davis either has no one any better, or he is playing a 'favorite', who he is unable to coach up to the level we need to succeed. Any Oline is only as good as the weakest link, because opposing teams will surely exploit the weak link, and we saw it for 3 consecutive game losses. I hope #65 figures it out, and Davis can coach him up to the level we need, but from what I have seen in him physically and in spatial awareness, I remain doubtful. We will see come Clemson. Watch #65, if he is on the field and you will get a sense of how successful our offense will be in 2025. Just my opinion. We all have one.

Other than a top experienced safety, this guy would probably have the most positive impact of any portal we could get at this point.

Adams would have played in that spot if he hadn’t just had surgery the week before. Him going down in practice was a huge blow. He has experience and was long recognized as the next man up at any Guard or Tackle position.

The other guys you are looking at besides Mubenga then are Echols, a true freshman, or Bordelon, a career Tackle and occasional blocking TE. Now you have Thompson at one Guard with an upgrade at Center and Chester, Mubenga, Bordelon, Thomas and maybe Curne battling to fill the other spot. You didn’t have anything close to that kind of competition for any OL spot last offseason.

I think we can all tell by the actions this offseason that the staff know they miscalculated trying to rely on younger, unproven players st Center and for depth on the OL last offseason. They should have looked for a starting Center in the portal. They didn’t, we had two or three guys hurt (Delly out, Adams out, Frazier playing hurt for two games) during our worst stretch of play and only underclassmen available to fill in.

You can keep crying about what happened, but we can all see how the actions changed this offseason. And if things don’t look solid at Tackle this Spring, you can bet the staff will go back to the portal again. It would be one thing if nothing changed, but that’s just not the case.
