I'm thinking Kelly is looking more seriously at the "uber"-experienced guys for Game 1 vs Clemson.

Losing your opener is waaay too big of deal for a team that has an SEC schedule and wants to make the playoffs. I think Kelly has finally learned this truth now.

That’s not the reason, they were looking for OL before practices for the bowl started.

Then what is?

No shite. But after the practices he made sure to update that we're still looking for more, which would be a change to his previous statements about the number of transfers we're taking.

I believe he will have 2-3 seasons left to play if he transfers from WSU to LSU.

couldn't.

Not necessarily. They may have taken some of them with possible limitations physically or mentally that they thought they could work out of them and just haven't been able to. Recruiting and development isn't an exact science, which is why I like the transfer portal.

Yep he likely has a concern at one or more positions on the OL and thinks he may be able to upgrade. Not sure why people would downvote this. OL is probably the hardest position group to project from HS and some guys aren’t ready for SEC after only 1 or 2 years. Chester definitely wasn’t ready this year to be a starting C.

Wrong.

He said we're not done.

Stop reading something that isn't there.

He said we're taking a specific number of guys. We're at that number and now says we're not done taking OL guys. The only thing that has happened in the interim between those statements is additional practice and eval time.

I'm not reading something that isn't there. I'm applying a skill that seems to be in short supply on this board.

Ok. When, specifically, did he give an exact number of how many OL we were getting in the portal, and what was that exact number?

When specifically did I say he gave an exact number of OL guys?

I said he gave a number of guys. I didn't specify OL in that part of the statement.

It's fricking tiring dealing with you people. You either don't or can't read and then get your panties in a wad about some perceived wrongness.

Just go ahead and pretend you somehow "won" this discussion, which you should be fine with since you seem to keep pretending I've said things I haven't. I'm fricking done.

Oh, I see.

You're trying to be cute and play semantics.

If you wanna bitch about Brian Kelly, or Brad Davis, or anything at all, go off queen. Just don't pretend like he said something he didn't say.

I didn't bitch about anything. I even defended Davis a little bit in this thread. But again, you're too fricking dumb to understand anything I've said. And like the apparent child you are, you lash out in anger at the things you don't understand.

I didn't. But you definitely have continued to pretend I've said things in this thread that I didn't.

15 practices does not sway a coach one way or the other. This isn’t NCAA 25 lol.

He wants more experience available. We have lots of talent at these positions but not a lot of experience.

If he's making that comment after 15 bowl practices, they don't feel good about the development of some of the young guys on the roster.
Or, he has the money, no more real pressing needs outside of safety, and would rather make the OL depth as good as possible.

Right now it would be

LT - Adams, Bordelon
LG - Thompson/Curne/Mubenga
C Moore, Echols
RG - Chester, Thomas
RT - Davis/Thompson, Bordelon

I don't think guys like Williams, Lee, and Calloway are ready to contribute yet. Those are your emergency depth guys right now.

As of right now you are looking at 10 guys likely to be the 2 deep. Of that 2 deep, 2 of them are true freshman. Getting one more guy for a year, knocks these guys down so your immediate backups at guard aren't true freshmen.

ETA: I don't know why i thought the transfer guy was named Johnson.

I don't think it's "or". I think it's "and".

ETA: I mentioned it in response to another post earlier in the thread. The 15 practices for the bowl, which are primarily used as an evaluation period, allowed him to see which or how many guys aren't ready to contribute next year.
