Young Mr Wilson seems to have a great head on his shoulders. While he very well may fall in love with UT, he doesn't come across like someone who is going to follow others just to fit in with the crowd.

I cannot claim that I am not worried in the least. But this young man simply seems to be in love with our school and football program. We'll see how it turns out.

My post was sarcasm.
I'm sure the staff know what's going on and if they don't they monitor this board every day for clues.

LSU definitely has staff that monitor TDings...no doubt about it.

Easy there Sparky.

Since i'm not here bitching how much more I know than the staff means I think they are infallible?

Since i can't do jack shite about who gets offered I choose to leave the bitching to people that do.

Just as long as this fricking "Let's trash the coaching staff" talk doesn't consume this board as it has for the last month.

Positive things are happening right now for LSU and I'd like that momentum to build before people come here and try to tear it down again.

If this dude is a stud then you would have to believe the coaching staff knows.

And the evaluations on here are? There were times when DJ Banks, Terrance Broadway, Jacob Karam, Jabriel Washington were all considered must gets on here. Reading the article Wilson doesn't seem slighted in the least by not being offered so if LSU is his dream school like he says I doubt we're out of it already.

To be fair:

DJ Banks was on the national spotlight early in his career -- he simply stopped growing later in his career. He was still a borderline prospect for LSU to offer...hell he won the Best DB award at LSU's own camp.

Broadway was another guy we were very close to offering. I don't remember all of the details around his recruitment.

I never bought into the Karam recruitment.

Jabriel Washington ended up committing to Alabama...so there was legit demand for him.

The rest of his post was that "they can evaluate better than y'all" and he is right.

Your response was completely irrelevant to what he was saying. No need to get butt hurt, just work on your comprehension.

I seem to remember people saying the same about Curtis Riser last year when he missed our Jr Day because of the icestorms. How'd that work out? He went to Texas the next week and commited. He "loved" LSU as well. I'm not trying to be negative or bring a negative vibe to the board but sometimes kids get a bad taste in their mouth when not offered as they expect and never forget it. Raheem Falkins is one lately. I sincerely hope Wilson is still interested after today and I don't pay attention to Tigerbait so I'll wait until Sonny or Shea give some info on how he feels. The comments posted earlier in the thread about him saying Texas will offer next week and going to OU and Okie St tell me he is moving on. Of course context is needed so I'll wait and see more about his feelings before saying he is completely done. I can bet you though that Texas,OU and OSU will tell him quite frequently "LSU had a chance to offer you 1st and didn't do it so they don't really want you like we do". That can carry a ton of weight down the road.

Exactly. And, there has been zero reason to question this staff's ability to evaluate talent.

There is a world of difference between Curtis Riser's comments about LSU last year and Wilson's comments today. Not even close.

One guy had a great trip; while the other stated that LSU has been his dream school forever.

Gets on soapbox:
Evaluating talent is not that difficult. The average fan just fails to recognize this.

Recruiting is MUCH more about being able to close on the recruit than recognizing he has talent. The relationships and sales component is 90% of the recruiting game.

Gets off soapbox

Ishmael Wilson Junior Highlights are impressive. He has great knee bend and is athletic. I guess I should definetly look at his film as well. his. LINK

If we could get this kid we should try.

on another note Jake Raulerson's highlights are potent as well. his. LINK

He said he was coming back for LSU's summer camp so wouldn't read it like that.

The average fan watches 5 minutes of highlight clips on the internet, calls it "film" like they are doing some kind of in depth breakdown, and then think they are qualified.

Coaches do a little more than that. I know it's hard to believe.

Maybe a few guys will slip under the radar and that's where it's good for people that have seen them to post here so they can get some exposure, but to bad mouth the coaching staff only makes people's post look like think they are know it all's and those posts won't be taken seriously by people that need to read them. <breath>

I like to read about new prospects, but hate to read how Coach Miles screwed up yet again like he doesn't have a clue what's going on.

The man has a $4million a year job...he knows what's up.
