Are you admitting that our 2003 chamionships were due to cheating?

From their NC in the early 90's until Saban got there, how many times had they been placed on probation for recruiting violations? Suddenly he gets there and every kid in the country wants to play for alafrickinbama. It's not like the state of alafrickinbama is filled with hundreds of top quality recruits year in and year out. They must recruit out of state every year or they will be lucky to compete for any kind of championship at all. They as dirty as USC was in the early 2000, just nobody has opened their mouth yet.

[quote]It's good marketing. In fact it's perfect marketing for recruiting: A) plants a seed of doubt B) yeah it's cocky, so are your atheletes. Even more so the 4* & 5*- it's 'relatable', not off-putting C) want to talk about 'showing love'? That's it. No matter what they do over the next couple of months that will be in Kardell's head. There is ZERO doubt in Kardell's head now, and forever, where he stands with Bama. D) because of (c), every contact between Bama and Kardell is enhanced. The forcefulness/cockiness is a force multiplier. It's easy to counter. We have the advantage in being the front runner. Just tell him repeatedly both we are NOT going to let him flip (unenforceable, but just as cocky) and that he is THE man for the 2019 class AND because of both, there's 26 other guys depending on him. So we've countered with cocky/arrogance, appeal to the competiveness, and created some peer pressure + dependency (people are relying on him). I think that last one is a common mistake schools, LSU and others, make regarding those top 20 -32 recruits. Don't package them with a teammate (e.g. Rogers & Marshall), it's not a new relationship. Have your 3* and 4*'s recruit the 5*. The tendency is to make them feel special and put them somewhat on an island. The coaches are risk adverse and want to limit the contact to player-hosts and Staff. You want to create a relationship another school can't attack with negative recruiting, then a Surtain should be in contact with 2 or 3 DL recruits (a CB's best friend) and a LB or 2. Recruits, not players.l Rights Reserved[/quot
What coach did you study under. There are also many other techniques of manipulation of recruits

Kardell Thomas is a big ol boy. I hope he tells nick to eat a dick.

Alabama coach Nick Saban himself delivered a message after his announcement: “We’re going to flip you,” it said. Texas A&M offensive line coach Jim Turner reached out with one, too: “We’re coming even harder now.” Heck, one day after the announcement, Auburn offered Thomas a scholarship. “I was like, ‘What?!’ ” Thomas said.
Honestly, if I was Thomas, this would piss me off

saban is getting pretty cocky when the first thing he tells Thomas is "we're going to flip you"
Saban will RETIRE before Kardell finishes college. No matter what Saban says.
Anyone who goes to play for Saban better like bama because they will have a new head coach before their college career ends.

Saban only signed like 18 this year, guess he is saving the other 7 so he can get all of the La guys next year
Posted on 2/10/18 at 10:51 pm to Brunedog
saban should have kept his mouth shut about 'flipping" Kardell. That is a total insult. He stepped on an IUD.
Posted on 2/10/18 at 11:08 pm to Brunedog
Saban may nor even be around 4 years from 2019. I always thought if Saban does nor get #1 recruiting classes 2 years in a row he knows the writings is on the wall specially if the #1 recruiting classes go to teams is the SEC.

I doubt Kardell is the first Saban has sent that exact same text to. I'm willing to be Surtain got something similar.
And I seriously doubt that Saban repeats ideas that don't work at least some of the time.
Manipulation is part of it. From both sides. Recruiting is full of it. "Show me love", "roll out the red carpet", "business decision", etc. etc. Those are all results of or reflections of someone manipulating someone else.
How excited do you think your average recruit (Kardell is not average) when he can show his teammates a text from Saban, or be able to tell his HS coach he's got a Facetime appointment with Kirby Smart. The appeal to ego is huge, and just another manipulation.

Kardell needs to have his mail forwarded to a P.O. Box at the LSU office where it can be deleted with the trash.

What a jackass to come out and say that!

Haven't we learned ANYTHING folks? All I heard for years was Surtain was a lock, blah, blah, blah. New cars and cash are hard to overcome. Also, being a top tier program would be nice as well. When these spoiled kids sign, THEN relax!!!!

I really hate that college football rewards the biggest scumbags by giving them even more leeway to ruin the game.

2 ways to prevent this:
1. Beat Bama
2. Coach O learns the Cupid Shuffle.

That’s what people thought about Patrick Surtain too. Never say never.
First, and foremost, Surtain was never committed to LSU.
Second, he's not from Louisiana.
Third, this kid is on a mission to take LSU (along with some stellar state studs) to the ship.
He will not flip...

I really wish O would take a bold stand on this and say something to really heat things up.
Like .....I hate Alabama, my players hate Alabama and my future players hate Alabama.
We are going to beat he shite out of them in DV this fall.
Do that and actually beat them then all sudden everybody is on the O bandwagon.
