If anything it definitely lends credence to the fact a lot of these talking heads are definitely nothing more than extensions of some of these major programs and that goes for football as well.

Daddy Dale didn't hurt the program enough when he shoved JJ's garbage arse down our throats, now he's actively working to kill it? frick that guy.

He’s right. Dale has been a cancer for awhile now.

The more I think about it Daddy Dale makes the most sense...unfortunately.

Probably why Wade hasn’t made any veiled comments. Bad look for program.

If it was another standing coach like Cal I think Wade may have let a comment slip along the way during recent interviews.

I still remember Miles losing his shite and dropping F bombs at the recruiting Bash once Saban started giving no fricks at Bama and kicking our a$$ in recruiting early in his tenure there.

No it doesn't

1. Dale Brown hasn't coached a college basketball game in nearly 25 years. He is largely irrelevant in the world of college basketball. Hell, you have a lot of younger LSU fans who have no idea who Dale Brown is. It's been THAT long since he was relevant.

2. Alleva is no longer the AD. And because Brown hasn't been relevant in college basketball for two decades, I doubt he's acting as some sort of advisor to Woodward...who has seemed to do just fine without Dales input.

3. Perhaps the only place where he could still have some influence is with longtime boosters. But we would be talking about people who are getting old now since the last time Dale had any relevance was the 90's. And even with that, if the stories about Wade paying exorbitant sums to recruits are to be believed, then I think we can all agree Wade is doing just fine fund raising with boosters. The $200k, $300k, checks have to be coming from somewhere, right?

4. Dale could still have some ties with local basketball guys with respect to recruiting. But again, who cares? It's not as if Wade has struggled recruiting since he's been at LSU and he has done just fine pulling in big time talent from other parts of the country. This isn't football. Wade isn't reliant on the state of Louisiana to get players. FAR from it.

5. And last, maybe the most noteworthy Dale Brown supporter is Shaq. If Dale were trying to "sabotage" the program, do you think he would have let Shaq's son come to LSU to play for Wade? Sure, it didn't work out at UCLA for Shareef. But it's not as if LSU was the ONLY school that wanted him. If Dale "hated Wade" don't you think he would have called Shaq and said "don't let your kid come play for this guy?" If he had, Shaq would have definitely listened because of the closeness of their relationship. Yet, Wade will have O'Neal on his team next season.

Brown was only allowed to have some degree of input in the program because Alleva was a loser. Alleva's first hire (Johnson) didn't pan out, so Dale pushed for Jones a second time. Alleva waited too long to get rid of Johnson and when Johnson parachuted out the timing put Joe behind a bit in trying to lure a new coach. Once he figured out he wasn't going to be able to get a better commodity, he lazily agreed to save money and placate Brown and his faction by hiring Jones. Jones wasn't a candidate for ANY power conf. job outside of LSU and his record at N. Tex. wasn't outstanding (though he did a decent job). Very few, if any, other AD's would have hired Johnny Jones based on his resume alone. But LSU had Alleva.

Alleva repeated the EXACT same practice when he hired Orgeron. Went out to find a big name. Then, when he got turned down he gave up and just placated the local folks by hired the coach who had zero HC market outside of LSU. It just happens to be that the O hire has worked out.

If it weren't for the coronavirus, Wade would have accomplished things by year 3 than had not been done since the John Brady era: Winning an SEC title and leading teams to the NCAAT in back to back years. Because it has been nearly 30 years since Brown did anything of note at LSU his shadow doesn't loom over Wade...AT ALL

All of that his true, but Dale Brown has always had an outsized ego. He is also infamously kind of petty. I absolutely believe that Wade doesn't respect him as much as he thinks Wade should respect him. He also doesn't need to be right to feed Dickie V just enough vague bullshite to get that story out.

My money is still on Calipari being behind the Vitale story, but it would not shock me.

i hope that bobby Knight's son didn't put a bug in Dickie V's bid assed ears , but it hardly seems a coincidence that the weekend Cissa was to commit was when the shite hit the fan. Youngsters these days more than likely don't have any more respect for poor old Dale than I do , but i bet you when dickey v sees dale's name on the incoming call screen ,he would be all ears .Well, he would be all ears anyway.

Alt26, you are one of the voices on here I agree with about LSU basketball. You make great points, mainly the the dale/shaq/shareed point, but dorky v mentioned he had a source for over 40 years that never told him wrong. That could very well point to brown. Also, Jordy asked dorky twice if his "source" was NCAA or LSU, and he dodged the question both times. I have a feeling dorky is hearing crap about Wade from all angles, and dale is one source.

So back to the matter at hand...things are still looking good on the Cisse front. Despite everything that has been posted here there is no reason to think that LSU is still not leading. Its looking likely that Sarr, the 7 foot transfer from Wake, will gain immediate eligibility at Kentucky and be their starting center this season. There is no way Cisse is gonna go there and play only about 10 min per game. The lead recruiter at Memphis for Cisse has been Mike Miller and he has resigned recently. Of course Penny is involved but Cisse has no direct ties to Memphis. He has only been there one year after transferring from NY. The ties with LSU coaching staff are strong. I feel good about him becoming an LSU Tiger !

Are you thinking of contrarian?

I don’t get the LE hate. He’s right more often then wrong and good for a change in perspective but he’s a positive for the board

Agree with you there. I don't always agree with him but he's usually right. Better than most of the homers here.

That’s why I don’t pay for that stuff. Anything of substance ends up here or on social media anyways.
