Looks like LSU has shown some interest in him. I don't know too much about him TBH.
Got the info off of X.

Heard this too (Morning Scone?) He looks like a pretty good player and one that could thrive in Denbrock's offense, but it also appears he quit midseason. Not sure how I feel about that. If we sign him and Nuss ends up starting he might quit again.

he didn't quit, the coaching staff straight up told him they were going in a different direction and they agreed to preserve his redshirt.

Would be a depth add. Nuss is better.

I honestly don't think anyone us coming in to unseat Nuss. Bring someone in the push him and maybe bridge the gap between him and Collins/Hurley in case Nuss misses time. More or less a one year rental that will have an opportunity to start if Nuss leaves after one season.

Which would be perfect. We need somebody good and experienced enough to be the backup without being promised the starting gig and sending Nuss to the portal. We can’t be an injury away from Rickie Collins being the starter and 16 year old Hurley being the backup. Next year is too important to the continued growth of the program. Nothing against Collins—I think he actually has a chance to play here—he’s just not ready to be that dude next year if we’re trying to compete for a championship with that loaded schedule we got next year.

He played at a tiny private school in Atlanta before transferring to Carrollton. Radio guy this morning in Atlanta said NC State told him he wasn’t going to play there anymore and went different direction.
If lsu goes portal for a Qb, I’d be stunned if it’s this guy. You’ve already got someone like Collins on the roster for the spot Morris would take.

They've already expressed interest to him. So it's a matter of him accepting. This is exactly the type they're looking for.

First off collins is a TrFr. Morris has played in 9 games in 2 seasons. He started 4 games in '23. He beat both clemson and miami this year. He has something called experience that collins lacks. From what I read he was offered by LSU coming out of high school so CBK/denbrock/sloan are familiar with him.

You have a link to this because every article I've read states the contrary?

He wanted to redshirt before the year then during the season they benched the starter for him but he still wanted to redshirt. It was definitely his choice.
quote:
Morris started five games as a true freshman before injuring his knee. He said that injury required surgery. The plan, he said, was to redshirt in 2023 behind graduate transfer Brennan Armstrong.
"I was promised I was going to get my redshirt year back, which me and my family were good with," Morris said.
Morris said the plan was to play only if Armstrong was injured. The NC State offense struggled early, and Doeren turned to Morris after five games. NC State went 3-1 with Morris as the starter, but he told the staff during that stretch that he still wanted to redshirt.
"I still do want to take my redshirt year so I can get an extra year of eligibility back in order to continue my development and become the best quarterback I can possibly be to go to the NFL, which is my dream and my goal one day." Morris said.
Morris said coaches tried to talk him out of it. Doeren said at the time he was surprised that a starting quarterback would want to sit out.

After reading that, I can see both sides. Totally get his coaches and teammates being pissed, but it takes a certain level of maturity to delay the instant reward and gratification of being the starter as a true sophomore for the benefit of his long-term development.
I mean, look at the 3 Heisman Finalist QBs this year—2 5th year guys and a 6th year one. Granted, they’re all at different schools than they signed with, so again, I can see the NC State folks being pissed. But the Arizona State ones were pissed at Jayden, and none of us give a shite.
To me, this is the perfect kind of guy to add. He knows what he’s getting into if he comes. He’s not good enough to scare Nuss away. Hope he’s not so good he scares Collins away. I’d really like to have 4 QBs on the roster. Hurley’s just too young. But even if he does send Collins to the portal—I don’t think he would, at least not this year—we have a guy who’s started multiple P5 games who could come in if Nuss gets hurt and not shite all over himself at least. And he’d be a 4th year guy by the time Underwood would get here if he does, so shouldn’t affect his decision at all.

You don’t want him. His dad is a nightmare and he’s not better than anyone you have currently

it's weird, I live in Raleigh and my son goes to NCST..
when Morris started playing, they looked better and started winning
then all of a sudden he's benched, the original QB goes back in as starter and starts playing way better...
I don't know what happened there...but my son told me Morris was in the portal a few weeks ago...
"Just gone"...

He is a package deal, which includes mom and dad. Trust me, should be a hard pass.

He is not a dual threat. Seen him play many times. He is an above average athlete but not someone that could unseat Nuss.

How do we even know that
From the 1.5 games we've seen of Nuss?

its the fact that its not only the dad/mother, its the uncles and cousins too
was reading some NC state content yesterday
if BK really takes him, it has to be known that the extra noise won’t be tolerated here

Can’t speak to this. Sounds like it’s not worth it, though

I think the goal is not for him to replace anybody and still end up with only 3 scholarship QBs, it’s to add a 4th QB to the room and 1 with experience that could at least come in and tread water if Nuss gets hurt. It’s a delicate balance, though, no doubt.
