Previous season EM BPR - Source
For reference, a BPR of 4.25+ puts you in the Top 250 for this past season. LSU's highest rated player was Wright at 4.42. Returning players of note - Fountain 2.79, Ward 1.76, Williams 1.45, Reed 0.34
Guards:
3.10 Cam Carter (Jr Kansas State): 14.6 PTS, 5.0 REB, 2.6 AST
That's great that Cam has the 3rd best BPR among the players we're pursuing. The BPR reveals some interesting things. For example, Dean had a 3.04 BPR, which was a nice jump from his 1.0 last year. Jalen Reed jumped from -1.69 to 0.34. Ward made a big jump from -0.83 to +1.76. So many players made big jumps. Fountain practically didn't change from 2.70 last year to 2.79 this year, but that's a good role player. Compare that to Baker's 1.48, which is very close to his 1.60 last year. That correlates to what I saw on the court.
Jordan improved from 3.77 to 4.42. Hopefully Cam can have a similar improvement. Cook improved from 2.97 to about 4.45, which I'm not sure matched what we saw on the court.
By the way, Stewart went from 2.74 to 3.18 BPR. Based on that alone, I hope he returns.

I am guessing we reach out to this guy, Danny Wolf of Yale. 7', 255 lbs with 35% from 3 and 9.7 rpg. Sounds like Baker but a better rebounder. Plus he has 2 years of eligibility left.

Stewart's BPR is high but his eye test does not match his BPR. It certainly would have dropped if he played the entire SEC schedule.
Think his role had a lot to do with his eye test, though

Some advanced stat in his favor this year just shows how deceiving those stats can be. Pretty sure Dalton Kneckt's BPR for this year shows him as a middle of the pack Tennessee player.

Don't think Carlos is a bad player. His role on the team was not his ideal role. He is NOT an off ball player. Baker ate up all the space he liked to score from.
I just don't see the point of retaining him (which is likely what's going to happen) if you don't put the ball in his hands and let him cook. He's damn near useless of the ball.
He's going to be taking minutes and touches from Givens, Carter, and Williams. The ONLY reason it makes sense to keep Stewart is if Cook is leaving. If not, it makes ZERO sense from a roster construction standpoint.
I don't want to hear this BS of Givens being a freshman and not playing or being redshirted or some shite like that. The kid can hoop. He needs to play.

There’s been a few more players we’ve reached out to in the past couple of days. I’m out of town for Easter but I should have the list updated again around the end of the weekend

We have made the top six for Jordan Sears
This is the type of 20ppg scorer they need.
Can get into the rim easily with his right hand. Has a super nice stepback.
Isn't afraid to shoot the ball. I think his scoring will translate to the sec.

I think Cook and Stweart's BPR did not pass the eye test because the things they seemed to do well didn't necessarily fit what CMM was trying to do.
Part of that is on CMM for trying to put a square in a peg hole but the players also share some blame for not adjusting. However, Stweart seemed to be trying, and Cook just seemed to do his own thing. That's probably why Cook had issues.

Yes that is correct
Has Fountain entered the portal? Otherwise, I think he stays (he has a “Covid year”). Unlike Wilkinson, he didn’t participate in Senior day even though he was a senior. I think that was a good indication he plans to return

I haven't seen anything, but LSU basketball news is pretty thin, even if you trek to the darkest corners of the net

I think he will be back. I hope he does come back. Plays extremely hard and is usually in the right spot.

I wonder how much of it is a "tight ship" and how much of it is local media basically not caring about MBB? I've tried social media searches, and it's crazy how smaller programs have more accounts providing info than LSU.

It's a good bit of both IMO

How many are even SEC caliber instead of bodies?

Carter, Edwards Jr., & Omoruyi. After that, there are a few other solid players that may or may not translate to the SEC. Then a bunch of reaches/projects.

If we can somehow convince Vyctorious Miller to come back to the LSU side after getting out of his Oregon commitment…

I think Pegues's skill would translate to the SEC, he put up similar numbers to Cook at Tulane. Doubt the rebounds would as high but he does seem to have a knack to be in the right spot for long rebounds. Plus he is a good defender and has 2 years of eligibility left.
Sears's scoring is impressive, but frankly 5'-11" and 3.0 TO is a little scary in the 6th worst conference. However Hubbard from State is only 5'-10" so it could work.
Regardless we need an experienced PG so I think if you can get one of these you got to take him.

Is there any word on where he is leaning? I saw they let him out his nil.
