Seems to be a more physical version of Fountain.
Is also a pretty good Defender. A real problem for CMM is the number of minutes available. He has 2 returning starters - Ward & Fountain, 2 Portal starters - Carter & Sears, 3 highly rated FR, RS FR Chest, plus Reed, Williams, etc.
Unless one of the FR is going to RS, then CMM is running out of minutes. Before Stewart and Collins got hurt last season, it seemed like at times his desire to spread minutes resulted in some odd combos on the court that didn't produce great results.

I think that Vyctorius Miller and Curtis Givens are going to be allowed to compete for minutes with Carter and Sears more than you expect. They are the future and capable of handling things by mid-season. Mike Williams will get his between the 1 and 2.
I suspect that Carter may not have been pursued if Miller decommitted from Oregon a few weeks earlier. But couldn't pass him up once he became available, obviously.

Nice, I'm going to add RJ to the list. Shaw also reports in the on3 article that a handful of programs have reached out to RJ. He hasn't scheduled any visits yet but Shaw says he expects Georgia and LSU to be in the mix. He's originally from Georgia so it may be tough to pull him away from home.
The list of schools that have reached out:
UGA
Auburn
Xavier
LSU
Butler
Virginia Tech
Dayton
Georgia Tech
Loyola Chicago
Boise State
Appalachian State

I imagine we start seeing a lot more 3 guard lineups as well: Sears, Williams, and Carter with the freshman rotating in.
If I had to guess I imagine a Robert Miller red-shirt is the most likely. I just can't see him getting many meaningful minutes, but if he is being expected to do we really need him Fountain and Reed?

quote:Robert Miller III right now is our biggest player and 2nd string center. Even if they bulk up Fountain to play center there will be plenty of minutes available.

Now maybe Miller wants to redshirt, but I don't see it happening without picking up a veteran center from the portal (or Bradshaw).

You really think so? Even though he is our biggest player I can’t imagine a true freshman who is “more comfortable on the perimeter” being our second option at center against SEC talent. Are you assuming Collins or Reed as our first string center?
The above quote came from his 247 recruiting file LINK

Yes
He is 6'11", 230 lbs with a 7'5" wingspan and huge talent.
From the same eval you pulled your quote from:
quote:
Miller is a Brandon Miller type of talent
quote:
Miller is easily one of the more naturally talented and gifted prospects the national 2024 class has to offer. Prospects who can handle, shoot, and pass off a live dribble the way he does at his size do not come around often.
quote:
Factor in his potential as a rim protector on the defensive end and he brings a unique level of two-way upside that is extremely tough to ignore.
Yes, I think McMahon will have the young man ready to play.

I hope your right, he is definitely an elite talent.

Some new info on Toby Okani reported by Jamie Shaw:
So it seems like Okani could be a West Virginia lean right now and could possibly commit before the LSU visit even happens this weekend.

LSU reached out to former player big Bradley Ezewiro. He's entered the portal after each season lol.
Averages 12/6 at St Louis

I caught a couple of his games this year, true post player, very physical and athletic

Wake Forest 6'10 Sr. Andrew Carr enters the portal and also declares for NBA draft. He's exactly the kind of big man McMahon seems to covet. I guess if there is ONE team McMahon is familiar with AND can say he "owns" while at LSU it is Wake Forest.

He’s gotta be on CMM’s radar. Carr also dropped 17 PTS and 9 REB against us in the Charleston classic. Would be a great fit

Carr has a 4.93 on Evanmiya, which is better than anyone on LSU's team last year. Wright and Cook were our bests at 4.41. He would be an improvement over our post play from last year.

While LSU is done at guard (barring something unexpected), here are a few updates for the OP:
- Penn G Tyler Perkins committed to Villanova.
- Iona G Greg Gordon committed to UAB.
- Drake G Kevin Overton committed to Texas Tech.
Also, it sounds like LSU is out of it for Clifford Omoruyi per on3’s Joe Tipton:

I appreciate the update. I’ll get the thread updated this evening. I need to double check but I think the only add for our contacts is Ezewiro from St Louis

My guess is Omoruyi is looking for more NIL than MM can or is willing to hand out like several other of the top 4 or 5 at each position. Ballo was asking for $1.2M and likely got that or close to it from Indiana. Omoruyi was probably also looking for about 7 figures and that is probably half or more of MM's total amount for 12-13 players.
I'm afraid that is where coach Cal is going to eat at Arkansas as he will be looking at about $6M for NIL budget which is even a big raise over what he had to work with at UK.
Unfortunately it doesn't matter of these top players like LSU or coach, at the end of the day its money for them. The 2nd and 3rd tier players are looking for some as well but opportunity probably starts to weigh more in the decision.

Just updated the thread. I also took Tarris Reed off the list because he has an On3 RPM prediction to UCONN and most insiders are hearing they have it locked up.
