Don’t want to argue. But does a:to ratio mean anything? Loved all the guards we had except a couple. Just wasn’t enough depth. I’m not trashing either coach. If you have the most turnovers in the sec, your guards are getting owned or overworked. I would be happy to provide more evidence, please specify what helps “my opinion.”

I’m not saying we were productive at the position I’m saying talented players came here and devolved. I’ll draw a parallel, Dale Brown had some very talented guards and overall talent at LSU but his teams were riddled with turnovers. Now that’s not because the players were bad, some were historically elite but there were problems because of coaching that caused us to underachieve.

Well he ran Eric Gaines off in favor of Justice Hill who couldn’t play a lick and he also had Hannibal who was a very good PG but was never played at that position until injuries forced McMahon into trying it. He ran Jalen Cook off who was a very talented player.

If you think CMM ran off players, you can say the same about Wade. He had Thomas and Reece, and didn’t do enough to keep them. Money does attract the most talent. If he fails at that, that reflects badly on him.

Wade has stated that only 9.4% of the players in the portal could play for him.

That tells me that he and/or his staff has evaluated every major player in the portal to come up with that percentage.

I think it's highly likely Wade didn't want a single player off of our roster last year. Especially at the price they may have been asking for.

I think that’s nonsense. He signed Nunez, and he hasn’t shown anything compared to Reece and Thomas. Many international pros haven’t translated to high level NCAA either. Transfer players at least have more evidence to support how they translate. If he were given truth serum, he would admit that. His approach was unnecessarily risky, He should’ve kept a few of the top players, and then signed as many top transfers as possible. I know he tried to sign a couple of transfers and lost, but it has led to desperation. If he fails with the rope and budget he has, it will be a huge failure.

You can say whatever you want but Wade said he wanted to keep guys while McMahon said he wanted to bring in his own guys so you’d be wrong.

First of all, I think he's talking about the 9.4% being in his playing rotation, and not dudes just filling out the roster.

Also, please point to me the year(s) he compiled a roster, and did so out of desperation, resulting in a sub par roster. You could possibly point to his first year at Chattanooga, but he still turned that program completely around immediately. This mother jumper knows what he's doing, and his track record over a decade proves this. Maybe he's lost his mind all of a sudden and has lost his way?

He's about to be sitting in the cat bird seat with basically his choice of DOZENS of players that are about to be awarded a 5th year of eligibility. Unless they can't find a court ANYWHERE in their jurisdictions to agree with the recent Ohio ruling.

Most major schools now are full, and all he's gotta do is outbid any potential NBA FA offers these 5th year guys might get.

This is hardly desperation. It's being patient and using multiple avenues available to building a roster, and putting himself in prime position to sign the ones he needs-all with FOUR YEARS of college basketball experience.

I've seen enough of his work among MULTIPLE stops to understand he knows what he's doing.

Just means he’s watched Reece play and hasn’t watched Nunez play at all.

Have any other suits been filed beyond the Ohio suit?

I believe I've read that there have been, and I can't imagine any scenario where this would be overturned in Ohio and not anywhere else in the USA.

I just googled it. California, Texas, and several other states have current lawsuits filed, and should be ruled on soon.

I would think on the slim chance any of these suits were denied, they could just refile in another court. I don't see a double jeopardy situation here, I'm pretty sure that's only a thing in criminal acquittal. Maybe a lawyer on the board could correct me if I'm wrong.

I gotta believe these players will be ruled eligible, and that's where the reports of new players we haven't heard of are popping up.

I stopped being lazy and did some googling and asked Chat about suits. In addition to what you found, saw there is an attempt for a class action suit in CO. Was curious how the OH ruling applied. Did it make the athlete eligible to play just in OH or anywhere in the country. Chat said anywhere in country. Taking that with a grain of salt because Chat also thought McMahon was still the coach.

Any fifth year players you have an eye on and think we’re looking at? Tia

I'm not an expert on how good these guys are, but I trust Wade completely.

Common sense tells me that Wade probably wants Qadir Copeland to come to BR, but he signed some sort of FA NBA contract a few weeks back.

I'm sure Landry has a judge or 3 in his back pocket to rectify situations like this, if needed.

I think it's reasonable to assume around 100 players will be given a 5th year. I have no doubt Wade can find 5 out of that group that can compete at a high level. Including a talented PG.

If Wade wanted to keep some of the guys in the roster, then why didn’t any stay? I find it hard to believe he tried hard to keep them. His gambles may payoff, but they were unnecessary, and expensive. The roster could be in good shape if he had retained a few of the key players and signed a couple more transfers, added a few internationals, and if he truly was confident the 5 for 5 would be available, he could’ve left a couple of spots open.

We just cleaned the house. No need to bring in the old, dirty shoes.

So he lied? If so are you going to apply that logic to every player who’s ever left?

You keep saying any player you didn’t want is a “gamble” and you keep saying we spent money unnecessarily. Why? What players were overpaid, how much did they cost? Your position seems to be that you had a couple players you saw on some portal video and since we didn’t get the ones you wanted it’s a failure or a gamble. You also apparently haven’t watched the players we did bring in so you just say they’re not good. 5for5 did pass yet you keep acting as if Wade is hoping for it. Just not sure what the problem is other than he recruited different guys than you anticipated. You just haven’t given any reason why that’s bad.

Mk…. Ugo has a chance to help a sec team get in the tourney. He’s a cat that can defend, attack, mature. Extremely strong guard that never fit in a role. CWW did good. I’m gonna keep bitching about Reece, however, this team has more front court experience than any team in the nation. Sharpshooter Kansas dude will have to run offense, and come sec, will struggle to get a shot off.

The uk kid is key.

None of those guys were recruited by Wade and his staff. None had a relationship with Wade. So I can understand why they may have wanted to look elsewhere. And it may have been that Wade did try to retain some of the players...but at a certain price that another school was willing to exceed. This is more of a business than ever before. HCs/GMs have to put a value on a player. Other programs may value them more. That's just everyday business in pro sports.

I don't think any of us know how necessary the roster construction was or not. As far as retaining key players, the bottom line is those players were good enough as a unit to be the worst team in the SEC. Certainly, under a better HC they would have been better. But there is no guarantee running a roster out next year of the past year's players would have produced results.

The bottom line is the LSU program was broken under McMahon. It was collectively the worst program in the SEC over McMahon's 4 year tenure. While some guys from last year's roster, on an individual basis, could potentially have been key players for LSU this season, I'm ok with a new HC starting from scratch.
