I’m sure their relatives in some way. Kashie played high school basketball for Rayville and the Natt brothers played at bastrop but from Monroe.

I just watched video of Kashmir. That cat can go. Very athletic! Does he have any eligibility remaining?

LSU-A has some pretty good younger guards as well. Isaiah Howard and EJ McQuillan both played at Port Allen, definitely not big names, but the kids can play. Howard is a good trigger man, but with Thomas, Givens, and Reece I doubt we pick up another.

I hope they give Kashie Natt a shot. NAIA player of the year 6-4 G Sr 20ppg 10rpg. Athletic as hell plays both ends 1.7 spg. Can play 1 or 2 with the 2nd unit

I dont know how well a 6'3 guard whose best attribute is they rebound extremely well would translate to D1 basketball from NAIA. I would worry that his 3 point shooting dipped way down from 36-37% in previous years to under 32% this past season frankly.

LSU-A played Louisiana Tech this past season and he had 17 points but on 7 of 19 from the floor, 5 boards (all defensive), 2 ast., 2 stl. Definitely not the worst stat line but only time they played a D1 team all season and the offensive rebounding went to 0 and he struggled to score at any efficient clip.

Marlon Taylor level athleticism. Worth a shot to fill out the roster imo

If we're trying to get to the new 15 then yeah I'd say he's worth a look as an upside guy.

If we're more looking like 13 true scholarship guys and a couple walk ons (unless he wants to be one of those walk on types, maybe with some NIL to offset) though would be more hard pressed. Just being from LA would assume it's a dream to play LSU basketball for him though.

That would be a good plan, but I can't imagine there is enough left in the bank to pay him market value.

Right now LSU has:

3 returning players
3 HS signees
5 Transfers.

You're at 11 now. McMahon is not going to play a rotation of more than 12...if even that. Probably more like 9-10 guys, at best.

The roster appears to have bodies/depth in the frontcourt. Same at PG. Wing/SG shooting looks to be the weakest area, and you'd probably like one more guy in the frontcourt with "bulk". However, with 11 roster spots already secured, it would likely be difficult to get a high-end transfer to sign on if he wants assurances of immediate playing time.

Williams would instantly be the best player on the team. Any high-end transfer to this team will get plenty of playing time.

For all the guys wondering about roster spots and if we’re gonna use all 15, here’s what coach just said in his latest tiger rag feature:

quote:

McMahon does not foresee signing more than one more player from the portal, possibly two. If he reaches 15 players on the roster, it will include walk-ons.
“In the new age of salary cap, I don’t think it’s realistic to space all the dollars out among 15 players,” he said. “I don’t think that’s the right formula.” -Matt McMahon

15 is way too much, no idea why they felt they had to expand it from 13. I get womens is 15, but only like 8-9 guys ultimately really play in a rotation with a few more seeing spot time here and there. You arent going to find 15 players worth of time so why recruit 2 extra scholarship players basically if they arent going to play. If you can get someone like the NAIA guy as a 14th/15th player, sure. But what D1 player wants to transfer somewhere to be considered the 14th or 15th best player in terms of minutes? Pretty hard sell there. Or freshman for that matter.

Only 11 guys ultimately played for us really this year and 1 of them got hurt 8 games into the season and didnt play rest of year leaving room open for others to play in their place.

I like the expanded roster specifically for LSU, take a chance on a local kid with some promise and see if you can turn him into something. Maybe he turns into Marlon Taylor or Jordan Wright. Specifically I would look for athletic off ball guards or wings.
Yes I know Taylor was from Florida but he wasn’t highly recruited.

It feels like this roster is still short 1 or 2 SEC caliber starters.

If we don’t get 1-2 more legit scorers…it’s going to be the same product we saw this past season. Dedan/Sutton/Reed will be solid. They have to get some scoring threats. Period.

This is the best thing I have heard in a while. McMahon lacks continuity in his rotations. Part of that has been injuries. But really you need 8 guys you rely on late in season, maybe 9. Play 10 during first half of season for experience and reps. There is a reason team after team after team that plays in March only plays 8-9
