Portal rankings are mostly worthless. At the end of the season he was ranked 1,101 on EM.
You’re using Evan Miya rankings as your sole source of truth for transfer portal additions? Come on now

Even with a great point guard, Chest is not getting you many points. He doesn't have the footwork, fitness or touch to get you baskets. He proved it over and over by driving to the basket and then not having a clue what to do but jump and try to dunk. There are a lot of players in the SEC who can stuff those kind of shots.

What are you using? Avg points per game in the Summit League? ON3 rankings? EM or similar analysis are really the only way to evaluate the huge number of college players. No one has actually broken down film on the 1,000 plus players in the portal.

I'd say a combination of all the above, production, metrics like EM, offers in the portal, portal rankings etc. Any of which are missing data and context without the others

This boy trying to get an all out bidding war. Respect

Doesn't Evan Miya skew heavily to players in the P4 leagues? I don't think it had Dalton Knecht ranked all that high.

Cool, and John Tonje was the like the 300th ranked player in the portal who ended up an All American. Portal rankings don’t mean shite lol

Projecting guards form mid majors is difficult. One of the main reasons is most of these mid major and below guards will almost always be the primary ball handlers for their current team, if not the late clock iso roles. He will be in a completely different role here.
EX :Wrightsell was that way at Fullerton and was taking a bunch of shots off the bounce, granted it was 38 percent which is good. He has jumped to 44% over the last two years(this year being shorted) at bama as a catch and shoot guy.
Coaches are breaking these transfers down to how they wanna use them and not necessarily how they are being and have been used.
According to guys who know ball, King is a tenacious defender and plus athlete with a exponentially developing offensive game. Right now hes the best wing player we have imo. Hes 36 percent on catch and shoot 3s and very good when driving the closeout. Will be a different player for us.

This is a horrible take
King is going to be good. Average almost 19ppg in a decent mid major conference is very good.
He really made a huge leap this season. He shot a lot more 3’s and he shoots FTs at 85% which means he has a decent stroke. Love his size too. Really good pickup

He’s got good size. We really need a shooter now.

It’s a matter of whether or not they can translate to SEC level basketball. So far McDummys choices for guards out of small conferences have not faired well.

I watched his highlights reel and 90% of it is him dunking the ball. That usually means they can’t shoot!

18 6 and 3 is not average lmfao and his highlights are good
Those stats are above average, but he may have been the main ball handler, so it would inflate the numbers. Other stats aren’t as good. His 3 point shooting percentage is 32% and 2 percent is 51%, with a lot of dunks. His assist to turnover ratio is barely 1 to 1. By comparison, Sears shot about 43% at his mid major and only about 32% this year, and was closer to 2 to 1 on turnovers. When players move up in competition, those numbers usually get worse, so I just think he seems like a depth signing, snd I hope he came cheap. He may be a useful role player with his size and experience.

Regardless of what happens the rest of the way, I feel like LSU has to at least reach out to this guy, right? Wright. He's (currently) a top 100 transfer and top 5 "all name team"
All Wright
All Wright

All Wright will be committing to Xavier pretty soon here

Sears was asked to do the exact same thing he did before at the SEC level and was very undersized and not athletic enough. Bringing him up in a comparison with a 6'6 gifted athlete is incredibly self serving to your argument.

Last week somebody in Trilly’s discord told me Rashad King was visiting but I didn’t really put a lot of weight into the source lol. He also told me this kid from Portland was visiting so I’ll leave this here. Could be a potential sharpshooting/bench piece. Max McKinnon out of Portland

I used Sears to make the point that statistics usually get worse when moving up in competition, and King's are average overall. His scoring, rebounds and assists stats are well above average, but if you add turnovers and shooting percentages, it's no longer well above average, especially when adjusting for the competition. Also, I didn't think King looked like a gifted athlete, but he is athletic enough. I think he can help as a role player, so I'm not against the signing if he is intended as depth, but I expect to get a lot better talent.
