A big weekend for the basketball program! Let’s hope the staff can close on Cenac (and possibly Merrett) just in time for the early signing period next week.

Yeah, I bet he was enthralled with matt McMahon and the basketball program. It was football the scared him away.

So when football wins and does good we rave about how it can be a tool for recruiting for other sports. However, when we get arse whooped we can’t acknowledge it can work in reverse. Got it..

Pretty sure the atmosphere and entertainment to start the game were impressive. And Alabama isn't on his short list of schools. U of Houston is the top competition and I am sure our football games are way more fun.

i'm not sitting here acting like its gonna solely sway his commitment on its own.

but you're delusional if you think getting blown out during a visit has no impact at all. it definitely sours a visit, especially when a huge aspect of recruiting for LSU is the brand of LSU and the experience of all the sports

HS recruiting is a years long endeavor. It’s much more about relationships and (now) NIL than a single football game. Sure, it would have been nice to have had an Ole Miss type experience, but the game itself will have little impact. The before and after the game will have more of an impact.

The game itself is also an extremely small portion of those visits. Basketball recruiting is a little bit different than football recruiting. You're not having 10+ recruits in a weekend. You maybe have 2-3 max. Its a lot more one on one discussions with coaches, NIL reps, facility tours, etc. and I guarantee those things matter much more to Cenac than whether LSU can beat Bama in football

247 writer says LSU seems to be sliding while Tennessee is climbing into contention with Houston.

Which 247 writer? Half of those guys are just making shite up based on other writers' stories. Paid recruiting sites turned it into a big circle of bullshite.
