re: Matthews didn’t get a real offer from CBK until.

Well he has a committable offer now. Is he just going to ignore it? If so, that’s childish. CBK and co. recruited him when it mattered. Looks like another T Curtis situation.
Also, when you have Toviano and Bryavion Rogers lined up, you don’t sweat these things

Jordy must not have offered to broadcast his announcement.

Really really late in the game. It was a token offer. Kids dad played at LSU. He would’ve loved to stay in town-has tons of family here, but wasn’t shown any true interest. Chalk that one up to getting lost in the shuffle during a coaching change. He’s a great kid with a great family-he is definitely a high character type of athlete that we would want here. Here’s hoping they can pull a miracle, but I think the ship has sailed. Too many relationships built while LSU was asleep at the wheel.
This is where I always call bullshite, it doesn't matter how many relationships are built, if you REALLY want to be somewhere else, you will go when you get your offer that you claim you always wanted...

Yeah, it's like kids saying LSU has always been their dream school yet they commit elsewhere.

It is frigging August with a whole season, all kinds of visits, and the most important stretch of recruiting all in front of us and you are talking about us being late to the game.

Landon Ibieta and Jack Bech didn’t get offered until late but immediately flipped commitments from Miami and Vanderbilt because LSU was in fact their dream school. Matthews could do the same exact thing. Don’t make excuses.

And it kind of seems like its playing out the same way for Rickie Collins. I mean the kid has an offer 6 months before signing day. If he wanted to go to LSU then nothing is stopping him.

Being late to the party in this case, does matter. I don't think we will fall off a cliff without him, but the OP gives good context. The Woodlawn kids both have as much of an in house recruiter for LSU as we've seen in a while, with their coach being a Tiger Great. Hard to believe the coach wasn't pushing LSU to these kids; but without an offer it's nothing he/the kids can do. At that same time, what they could do is look elsewhere and form relationships elsewhere.
Relationships tend to go well if there's value being added. So to get courted by schools such as those that he has been, all of which have alumni bases on par with ours, facilities that are better than ours, and a coaching staff prior to ours...that all makes a great argument to go where you are wanted. Each one of us knows a story of a kid who wanted to come to LSU and ultimately didn't, but still went on to be great. I hope this is the story of this kid. Stop living in a false reality and believe that every kid in LA has to have a blind allegiance to LSU. He wants to leave, ok.

I honestly think he’s loyal to the coaches that have spent the effort with him.
If you think 18 year old kids in the genesis of the NIL era are loyal to a coaches "effort", you are high off your arse.

LSU doesn't seem sad about it
They got Rogers to decommit and Thomas is next and are in top 2 for Toviano

Can't speak for Rickie, but JM wants to commit, sign early and get the recruiting behind him.
I never said LSU was his dream school or his #1 choice--I said there's plenty reasons he would've been happy here. He likes LSU and has legacy here, but he likes other places too. As an LSU fan you have to realize that other schools are nice too. Other places have great facilities and coaches who can recruit as well. You guys have a weird way of digesting information. I'm telling you LSU didn't really want the kid. I'm not bad mouthing LSU, I'm not advocating for MAtthews, I'm simply giving info bc I see people talking about flipping him. We are a long way from that.
In June he didn't have an offer from LSU at all. He had one from CEO but not CBK. LSU is/was lukewarm on him at best---- It doesn't mean he's crying for lack of attention, it doesn't mean he doesn't have chest, it doesn't mean he's egotistical--it just means LSU didn't want him. He's smart enough to know that he should go where he's wanted.
I hope CBK can sell him. I really do. He's a great player and an awesome kid. He's what you want here.
I'm pretty confused as to why people are arguing w me and down voting everything. Y'all are so defensing about LSU you're too blinded to just take some information for what it is.

Part of your problem was you said he was given token offer. Did you ever define what a token offer is, because that doesn't sound like a thing to me. If you look at LSU's recruiting so far they are far from asleep at the wheel, that's just nonsense.
I saw other people mentioning dream school, but yeah i guess i got that part wrong. my bad.

I wonder if the slow play, if there is one, on Mathews is occurring right now, with Toviano, Rogers and Thomas possibly on the table?
That would explain why you get this type of post right now and maybe why he has delayed his commitment.
Just spitballing...

He didn't just give "info" and leave it at that. He took several shots at LSU by saying they only gave a "token offer" (whatever that is) and that LSU was asleep at the wheel. He can't come back after that and pretend all he did was pass along info.
