Not all up front right?
What do they get like a bulk payment and then the rest over their time at the school?

There is so much BS here.

LSU could let Bama pick 25 kids nationally and then go recruit its' players and talent would still not be the reason for lack of success. There isn't much difference in the top 25 kids picked and the next 200-300 kids on a national basis.

frick Nick Saban and frick Bama. LSU has plenty enough talent to beat Bama. They just need to go do it.

hate to break it to you guys but Bama could probably flip 75% of the class if they wanted to. Once they lock in on a kid and pull out all the stops it's usually over with.

So Bama is allowed 58 signees this recruiting class? Lol

It all boils down to wins and losses. LSU is having a very good season and needs to beat one of the 2 out of Ga and Ala. These kids want to see that LSU can compete for NC's. That's the reason Surtain went to Sabama. It's basically the reason Emery has committed to GA. Once O and staff prove they can compete for NC's, it will be much harder for them to flip these kids from LSU. And with the season LSU is having, these players are realizing LSU has the potential to beat the best in the nation. Besides, LSU will never hurt for quality skill position players, there's too good and too many quality players in the Boot not to put quality players on the field. If Banks goes, so be it, LSU just goes a little deeper in the Bayou and brings in a player who will be just as good as Banks.

I'd be curious to hear your explanation for my brother and I then because we're two polar opposites when it comes to LSU and Louisiana. You saying we were raised differently by the same people under the same conditions in the same house?

Perhaps you're full of **** and we're just two different people who like different things?

I was just about to post the stipend value. We are absolutely killing our recruiting by having a low stipend. Texas A&M is paying double what we are paying

LSU doesn't determine the amount, correct?
Yes, the school does; not the athletic department.

It is a number reported to the DOEd and can pretty much revised at will.

However, it is a number that is used for many other things than athletic stipends. Primarily published as something akin (I can't remember the exact term) "total cost of attendance". So schools do not want to inflate that number and lose qualified students to other, lower cost schools.

You do have to justify the number, it can't be pulled out just any old arse. For example, if you do want your number to go up a school could use the price of a gym membership to represent the intramural facilities for non-athletes, or the athletic facilities for athletes. That's artificial because it's already baked into the cake, but doable nonethless. They can add value to any service, or actually reflect real costs of real products/services.

I guess my point is one can increase that number without actually increasing actual costs, but it decreases enrollment numbers.
