Transfers = no school pride
Unlimited signees = processing players and no real signing class rankings
NIL = pay for play (Texas A&M ahem)

I miss the good old days where the cheating was under the table, but at least everyone felt they had a fair chance at the beginning of every season!

It sucks. The players have more power then the coach of institutions. Is what it is. Hopefully Kelly can guide it as needed and get the roster back to full with the new no limit for the 2023 class.

A lot of buddies and myself have a somewhat checked out feeling. Love lsu, support team, just kind of meh.

Completely agree. Pandora can't be put back in the box, it'll
never be the same again.

Same. Not sure how sustainable all this is and it very well may ruin my favorite parts about college football.

FWIW, Pandora opened the box. She wasn’t in it.

Roster management is what I'm trying to fathom. With so many players you are grooming to step up in their Jr. seasons, but if they hit the portal it's constantly changing your rosters. Basically everything we knew about college football is out the window...

I hate to say it, but I think its going to go back to the way it was before National Championships were decided on the field. When it was simply a poll, certain schools always had the huge alumni base to win the poll. So you had Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame, Texas dominating.

I can see the same thing happening in 5 years, its going to be all about which school has the most alumni who care about college football enough to buy a team

Absolutely. At the end of the day, the money is in tv, sponsorships, etc... And it's big money, made off of the casual fan, not the hardcore one.

Yeah... I mean the unlimited signees thing is only for the next 2 classes, while they hopefully can reign in the transfers and amend the rules.

This no scholarship limit is going to help LSU immensely.

The thrill of the recruiting cycle is gone.

Even if they extend it indefinitely, teams/coaches won't start mass processing recruits because that will become their reputation on the recruiting trail.

Yes they will.
Saban already does it.

He will just sell the next batch.

This isn't true, though the gap has closed significantly. As it should. The fact is that power is distributed in perfect relation to importance. Guys who don't matter have no power. Guys who do matter now have some level of power. As they should, given the fact that they matter.

If a player is massively important to a program, why in god's name *shouldn't* he get more of a say? He is the one providing the value. The only thing that's changed in terms of power balance is that there aren't kids getting screwed over as badly any more.

You're correct. Even programs that consistently recruit at a top 5 or top 10 level can't consistently bring in >25 guys that are good enough that the program actually wants them. Even when our recruiting machine was absolutely humming under O we *still* weren't bringing in the full limit of guys. If a top 5 recruiting program can't even hit the limit in terms of guys they want who want to come, what makes people think that all these programs will be able to significantly *exceed* the limit?
