Question.... Would ya'll consider us too thin at corner this year? Cause we lose Fulton and gain Ricks. Wouldn't we be in the same position as this year? Also is Stevens gone, or does he stay?
We have 4 true freshmen this year who will be sophomores next year (Raydar a redshirt freshman). So we lose a great one in Fulton, but replace him with a 5 star freshman and the 4 very young guys all got a year experience, 3 of them with significant playing time, 1 of those being a starter.
So from a pure numbers standpoint it looks the same, however depth seems much more comofrtable next year than this year. We basically relied on 2 true freshmen for depth all season long in Ward and Flott. Stingley is hard to even consider a freshman, he's like a good NFL CB playing in college already. Ricks wont be stingley or fulton next year but he certainly wont take as long to come along as Flott, Ward or Raydar either.
There's also a chance as others have mentioned for current players to switch over to CB/nickel.
I'll also throw in there Todd Harris and Maurice Hampton are swing guys at safety/corner/nickel. They can man up.
As for Stevens, no telling what he decides, but he's a safety/OLB hybrid basically, it's his own position really. I would expect Brooks to mold more into that potentially, but he's so good at just trying to rush the passer as well. I think Brooks could be even more dynamic in that role down the road than Stevens is.

The first time i heard Palmer has bad hands is this thread
Where y’all get that from?

They just make it up.
Might be true, but they wouldn’t know it if it was.

People forget that we have Todd Harris coming back at safety.
Hampton is going to be a difference maker at free.
As far as Palmer to DB- I’ll believe that when I see it. He looked pretty good catching that punt he housed. And if his hands are that questionable, why in the hell would the coaches even allow him to be back there fielding punts?? I think he’s too electric with the ball in his hands to be moved to DB.

Palmer would move because of the numbers at each position, and he played some CB in high school. I don’t think it has anything to do with being a bad WR. Just puts him closer to immediate playing time

Somebody speculated that a position change from WR to DB could only mean bad hands and everyone else ran with it.

I wouldn't say he has "bad" hands, but by comparison to some of the other studs at the position I think he's average (for this team).

if anyone should move over it should be lee to defense. the kid would be a monster at safety. it is his choice in the offseason

Marcus Rosemy (Dumervil's teammate) or Johnny Wilson (Burton's teammate). Both used to be 5 stars (fit the criteria of your star confusion) Both are committed to big time programs (Georgia and Oregon). Both are WRs. Those are my guesses.

Write it out on paper for 2020 tho Vol, he’s in a dead heat with McMath for WR3 before the freshmen arrive.
We saw what an offseason In the program can do for WRs hands

With the guys coming in behind him it seems inevitable.

Corey Webster had pretty good hands from what I can remember.

If you think Stephen Sullivan can't block, you haven't watched a number of games this year, including Florida and Auburn. That dude is a blocking machine. He's absolutely destroyed people this year. So....go ahead and repeat old and defunct talking points to prove your idiotic point.
Sullivan is a very good at blocking on the outside and downfield. He's tenacious as hell. The blocking Moss was asked to do this year was completely different. He was an integral part of our pass protection. Even when Moss was supposed to go out into the route, he was often asked to chip a lineman or linebacker in his way out. He was also very effective as a run blocker, which is why he was so awesome. We could literally run anything we wanted to run when he's in the game.
I love Sullivan, but as a tight end, Moss is on a completely different level.

How is anything i said an overreaction? I was just correcting someone who was incorrect in what they said

I can't see processing a WR (we arguably have the best WR class in the country), and there's no way we're taking 5 WRs.
I don't see this happening.

So this board has ZERO issues with local, loyal kids not having their commitment honored...... But lets say that someone like Ricks decommits or signs with another school and the explosion occurs. This is so hypocritical.

Actually it's not a "commitment" until paperwork is faxed.
But, you can publicly or silently "commit". Neither is official.
Well yeah.
Look there are levels to this.
Obviously a "slient commit" is better than nothing but I don't think it should be considered as solid as an announced commitment.

Just my opinion, (based on right now) but he isn't beating out Burton or Jarrett for that #3 spot. May be totally wrong once they get to campus, but won't be surprised to see one of those 2 starting next season out the gate. But also, you are right, a whole offseason of work and he may turn the corner.

Must not be burning them too bad, the kids aren’t trashing our coaching staff when they decommit.
Then maybe you missed the comment:
