Trai Turner was better than all 3 coming out imo.

Nah, Turner had a sloppy arse body, he had to lose like 30lbs his Redshirt year

Lael was a bigger prospect than Whit. Cam Robinson definitely was.
Some of that is probably the boom in recruiting services but I got to follow Whit closely at WM and he wasn't a hyped up guy nationally back then.

Yep, Greg Robinson was a man.

These are my rankings not all dependent on recruiting rankings, though they are weighed a little
Whitworth was a huge blue chip recruit
Not every year is the same.

Whit was a big recruit but I don’t know how huge nationally. He wasn’t even that well thought of coming out of LSU in terms of being a top level Tackle.
I think he was the 5th or 6th tackle taken in his draft class on day 2.

Yet he played in the first Army All-American game and was a USA Today All-American if I am not mistaken? Brad Smalling may have been more hyped and Rodney Reed maxed out.his physical skills.

Recruiting was definitely muddier back then. A lot of people projected him as an interior lineman. Rudy Niswanger was supposed to be a tackle from ocs I believe and he ended up inside around that time period.
Don’t get me wrong, Whit was always a stud but there are a lot of studs in high school. Sometimes it’s relative. There were players from the OG 2-5A that many thought would go on to be better players than him at the time.
I recall when Whit played TE for varsity as a freshman if memory serves be right. He was known then and that was about as high level of HS competition as there was anywhere.

Really exciting times in the trenches again for LSU. Had taken a few years off there lol
We’ve had a ton of really good lineman the last few years. The lack of talent narrative is just an excuse that people like to use to deflect attention away from poor coaching.
Orgeron used that excuse after Bama beat the brakes off of us in 2018. In actuality, that 2018 roster was stacked. We just had a piss poor gameplan and coaching performance in the game against Bama.

From 05-12’ LSU had four 1st rd picks along the DL
They haven’t had one in 7 years, and this year will be 8.
So I’m just curious as to who you are talking about?

The production hasn’t been up to par, but Lawrence, Fehoko, Alexander, Shelvin were all National top 50 recruits
I’m assuming that’s what he’s referring to.

One of those are not like the others.
We got a lot of nice players, but the line recruiting took a big step down

I think he was referring to the OL side.
But on DL, not sure 1st rd picks is sufficient by itself to determine talent levels, e.g. Danielle Hunter.

Les Miles really struggled with putting top end OL talent into the NFL, especially at the Tackle position. Props to him, both Cush and Charles are his guys, will both be drafted next week.
Danielle Hunter is a fine player but DL has not been up to LSU standards for years now.
His quote was "we've had a ton of really good lineman"....
I am simply asking, who?
Im sorry, but it is not a false narrative. O finally has both areas going in the right direction.

Just got another CB for LSU.

You're right. Since the Brockers, Montgomery et al group the DL recruiting was not great.
I think O is recruiting interior linemen pretty well (on both sides of the ball) but for a DLine & Recruiting guru I have been underwhelmed by his DE recruiting overall to date. It's been the weakest single recruiting area on the Defense imo.
Hopefully that improves now with a natty

I think Phillip Webb and BJ Ojulari can help us reverse that trend.
