Thank you for a solid response… that sucks as he’s solid and tested at the high school level. He’s on an Anderson level in a couple years if he keeps progressing. Only thing I didn’t like was he only throws out of the stretch which is trivial but is a thing.

I in no way disparaged Hood. I simply stated I think Nawrocki is better

Who knows though, everyone thought guys like Chase Shores, Schmidt, and Curiel would never make it to LSU until they did. And then a year ago LSU wasn’t expected to lose half the signing class to the draft until they did. There might be some NIL funds left over from the portal that would make the decision difficult for him

If you want a serious answer you may want to take out the stupid comment about preferring a guy who had a good high school season compared to a transfer who just won freshman of the year in his conference. Especially when it’s highly doubtful you know enough to project how good each will be. We can take both anyway so the comment is kind of weird.

my opinion I’d give this kid one which moves the Gonzaga kid out - we could use both I’ll agree. I’m just ranking them
Which is funny, because I’m sure you are biased against Gonzaga for facing lesser competition, but are hyping another guy who has only competed against high school kids.

Which is funny, because that’s all we have until they see the field in p&g

The kid didn’t have a good senior season - he hit .520 while throwing 95 from the left side - that’s generational

Nawrocki spent most of his junior season at Aledo (Texas) HS as a DH, helping the Bearcats win the state 5-A Division I title by batting .532 and winning championship game MVP honors by going 4-for-4. But he opened eyes with his pitching during the summer, including a dominant turn at the Area Code Games where he struck out five of the 12 hitters he faced. Though his listed height of 5-foot-11 is generous, and he's almost certainly a reliever, his pure stuff could land him in the top three rounds.
Nawrocki may have the best slider in the Draft, an 82-85 mph beast that can top 3,200 rpm and can feature either tremendous depth or sweep, depending on what he wants. His four-seam fastball ranges from 91-95 mph with high spin rates that create quality carry. He doesn't use his firm 85-88 mph changeup much, but its fade and his ability to land it for strikes give it the potential to become at least an average offering.
While he's small, Nawrocki has a strong, athletic frame. It's impossible to project him as a starter, but it he can throw consistent strikes and maintain the stuff he displayed during the summer, he could become a high-leverage lefty reliever. Clubs may let him prove he can do that in college and he's committed to Louisiana State.
From his mlb draft right up. Ranked 157 and we will see what his number is for signing bonus. We may see him on campus.

Excellent response and the depth I appreciate

Google cut and paste. MLB.com has write ups on every player in their ranking.

Dude, just stop. This is clearly the first time you’ve ever seen a high level athlete play in HS. It’s 2026, a lefty throwing 95 isn’t some generational ability. State got a kid who was throwing 102 as a lefty to campus this season.
As it’s been said 10 times in this thread, comparing him to literally any other player we have committed is irrelevant. We have plenty of roster spots to fit all of them and as we seen this year, you need more than 1 pitcher to win. Just google his name and argue with yourself instead of looking like an idiot.

So many experts, so many didn’t play the game and know what right looks like.

You aren’t getting the Conner’s to come to campus. This is the most promising kid I’ve seen out of high school that I thought we had a chance at. Apparently not and apparently the fan base says quit looking just go portal and hope they translate. That worked out great this year
Posted on 6/6/26 at 3:16 pm to jlbasm
Actually nobody has said that. We’ve all said we want both. YOU made this a “this or that” conversation in your first post. Don’t be upset becuase we didn’t agree. So if you are looking for someone to blame for the direction of the conversation, I suggest looking in the mirror.
Btw, it was one year. We’ve won two titles with the help of transfers before. People really seem to keep forgetting that.

Schmidt was a much more “promising” prospect, according to every MLB scout
