You do realize that we only have 2 starters returning and 1 sophomore and four freshman will see significant playing time. The SEC schedule is hard enough when you have a young team.

But it's like this every year no matter what we have returning.

LSU will have plenty of experienced players this season, more than enough to play a competitive non-conference schedule (the non-conference games in the PMAC are atrocious). In addition to Johnson and Williams, Joyner and Koval started at their respective schools last season, and Fulwiley and Gilbert are veterans as well. There’s no excuse for that horrible home non-conference slate.

Be nice to get a home and home with a UConn or another power .

with a tough sec schedule and long season, it doesn't matter

True, they’re experienced individually, but team chemistry doesn’t happen overnight. Playing tougher non-conference games early could actually help build that cohesion under pressure. At the same time, it’s fair to acknowledge that this group hasn’t played together yet, and that matters—especially when expectations are high. Balance is key.

Might not matter that much in seeding, but playing schools you can beat by 80 doesn’t benefit you at all. It’s like when the baseball team plays VMI and they are facing a dude who throws 80. It’s kind of a waste of time

They get a tested enough during the season, they will be fine and i dont watch baseball

Harpring to North Carolina.

it does matter in the seeding. unless you win all your big games in conference play you can never get higher than a 3 seed because of your non conference schedule is so weak.

1OO% BS not being a dick but a very stupid comments. LSu would have been a 2 seed but lost some games they shouldn't lost. May be tough to be a 1 seed with the OC schedule.

LSU should have absolutely been a 2 seed last year over NC State and Duke. But was punished for their weak out of conference schedule. LSU beat NC State head to head and had better overall records than both teams.
LSU lost to Alabama on the road who was ranked in the top 25 and to Ole Miss at home who was extremely underrated. Yeah they probably should have won but those games are by no means "bad losses". The other losses were to South Carolina and Texas who were final four teams.
Basically with a weak out of conference schedule you have to play perfect the whole year or will get penalized heavily in the seeding.
And I am not even asking to make the out of conference schedule hard. I am just saying when every single game is a cupcake not sure how it benefits you in anyway.

I firmly believe LsU dropped to a 3 seed because they lost 3 of their last 4 games. Had they not lost to one of the ole miss or Alabama I definitely believe they would have been a 2 seed over nc st who they had better quad 1 and quad 2 resume. LSUs SOS honestly wasn’t even that bad last year, it was statistically better than the other year. Murray state, Washington, nc st etc ended up doing much better than people expected. So it wasn’t near a drag like that 2023 schedule
Look at Notre dame who got hammered for finishing the season sluggishly by the committee despite having some impressive wins
But yes you aren’t gonna get a 1 seed on this type of OOS schedule unless you run the table. 2 seed still achievable but will require MULTIPLE marquee wins over the likes of Duke/Texas (2x)/South Carolina/OU etc while avoiding any bad losses.
UConn/Ucla/SC are easily your favorites for those one seeds. Everyone else is competing for that last one seed imo

I agree 1OO% fell to a 3 because they lost 3/4 wasnt their OC schedule.

What about the year they won the National Championship when they only lost 2 games the entire season and were still a 3 seed?
Im telling you the committee has a gripe against LSU when it comes to the non conference scheduling. If you end up having the best team in the country it doesnt matter but it can effect not making final fours.

I get that but this past years SOS in non conference is not near as bad as what was made out compared to 23 team. The best team they faced was an Oregon st team who didn’t even make the NCAAT…
Per Warren Nolan
The SEC was also significantly weaker in 23 compared to 25 with a lot more ranked SEC teams and quad 1 opportunities
The resume of 23 team was minimal. Minus TN there wasn’t a lot to go off of tbh outside the SC games as far as big matchups
In regards to this season SOS. No question it’s much weaker than last year tbh. Only Duke and Washington st seem serviceable at least from eye test on paper.

We will see but strangely LSU has not been properly seeded during Mulkey's entire tenure at LSU.
Only the first year 2022 we got the benefit of the doubt being a # 3 seed with a net ranking of 24. Funny its been a 3 seed every year.
With the way the schedule looks this year LSU can probably only afford to lose to Texas and South Carolina otherwise youre looking at 3 seed or lower again.

If you want to see some of these recruits in action, check out the Overtime Select tournament on YouTube. You’ll find Oliviyah Edwards, Jacy Abii, and Lola Lampley there. With so many talented point guards coming up, Autumn Fleary’s asking price just doesn’t add up given all the options available.
