Need the Russian to become official, soon .

As I'd stated earlier the thread, Morro is definitely a big pickup. But she's not enough. We actually need one more post that is closer to at least 6'5". So, again.........................................................I'll wait.

It’s actually not necessarily a height thing. It’s more of a post that “will” rebound. A lot of these big girls don’t want to play the post.

I mentioned a few times they were adding multiple international bigs and likely a backup guard to assist with Jada Williams at point. With international players we have to be patient

Awesome news! When will Morro become eligible for the WNBA draft?
Posted on 4/27/26 at 2:23 pm to goldenmoment
According to Tigerag.com, she has 1-year eligibility left. Will be 22 yo this December.

1 year left is what a lot of players have nowadays

There is possibility she could still get a second year but Caroline is signing this fall for the following year and we have likely that 6’5 Russian big on the way (who should have 4 years)
The following year we “should” have Caroline, Knox, Koval and that Russian and another big or so (they’ll sign two bigs in 2027)

Just curious--Do international players who come to US speak fluent English? Are there any language barriers? You have to admire them for coming to the US at young age, many of them without their families.

Tigerbait357, do you have any intel on which backup point guard Kim might be targeting- whether still in the portal or international?

Found an article online but it’s a Russian article. Hope it’s true I’ll post the translation.
LINK
“As Sport-Express has learned, Russian center Anna Minaeva will become a player for Louisiana State University (LSU).
The 17-year-old Minaeva (196 cm) is considered one of the most talented basketball players in the country. A product of Moscow basketball, she played within the MBA club system (MBA-MGUSiT, MBA-MGUSiT-2). In the 2025/26 season, Anna was named to the Superleague’s All-Star Five, recording 17 double-doubles.”

Seems like it’s a done deal , just a matter of LSU announcing it.
I like what little I’ve seen from her highlights

Absolutely, her hands, rebounding, defensive awareness is very high.
What I love most in those highlights is her court vision. She’s not a black hole when she has the ball can lead the offense with outlet passes and kick to the open play in the post, very promising

Just thought I'd take us a little off topic here.....................
Has anyone realized that, although we lost Jada Richard, it might actually end up being a good thing? Jada would've been our starting pg for three straight seasons, through 2028. Now that she's gone, and our starting pg is going to be a senior this upcoming season, it means now we can put on a full onslaught to get Kaleena Smith. She's the type of pg who can come here and start on day one, and I'd imagine that will be a selling point to her from this staff, this coming Summer and Fall. It's gonna be tough to get her out of California, but a promise of starting on day one, along with NIL, might be enough!
