@TigerByAssoc: BTW, I was planning to make it to Saturday's two games but the weather forecast doesn't look good so I'll probably put in some time keeping wife happy. The next weekend doesn't really look too intriguing with the low level of competition: Loved softball ball is back but watching an SEC team annihilate a low level mid doesn't keep me engaged long. Will let the stat-padding happen on ESPN. Really looking forward to the girls facing Lemley with Va Tech. She may not be "Elite" or "SEC level" as some like to say but that arm will be the best arm the team will see until they get to the UCLA game I think. Better test than this past weekend's low level of pitching. Let me know how it goes!!

Don't blame you. I'll be there Friday for sure--I'm on my 10 days off period starting Friday! Will update what I see but I think those games will be on ESPN. My wife is on a ladies weekend away this weekend so I have nothing but softball on my mind for the weekend. As she says, there are worse vices :-).

Again, what you’re not saying is that the coaches have seen every practice, every scrimmage, every hitting session and have judged McKee a better option. Why do you think that is? Let’s hear it… you’re also wrong about not playing Freshmen..Briggs , Coffey and Pleasants were every day starters, Newland started a bunch. Andrews started a bunch.. Jayquish,Bell, Landry every day starters..Torina will start Freshmen if they deserve to start…these freshmen minus JH do not

Redoutey started most of her freshman season, too.

I don't want to get in the middle of this shitshow, but I thought McKee did well in finding holes with the balls that she did hit. We'll see more of all of them this season though.

LOL!!!! Shitshow is right. I got out! It stopped being productive, informative or entertaining.

This weekend, if it happens, should be fun against Va Tech and NW--both solid squads. Then Cali where at least one game should be fun one to watch (UCLA). Other games on schedule should be W's.

I do agree with you on Hodge, she was basically a zero at the plate at Oklahoma and a zero here too however only decent SS. Maybe you could give Daniel a shot there and take out the non hitting Hodge and put her on the bench where she probably should be, she is virtually a automatic out and just a pedestrian SS..

Absolutely agree with you there Casual. Good point. But I think Coach probably gives her a very very long leash (possibly too long) simply because she is a transfer. I’m imagining some promises may have been made to get her to make the move. Could be wrong but not sure how you leave sub .200 in the game without trying something else. Hodge’s arm is stronger than Daniel but nothing a sound transfer and quick delivery couldn’t mitigate ESPECIALLY if she can hit .300.

I was up at OU one weekend last season to see one of my best friends daughter pitch and that's when Hodge was starting to play regularly because of an injury I believe. She showed signs of hitting like in HS and travel... plus as a HS coach we played her every year and I was to the point that we made sure we didn't throw anything she could reach with her bat. I think she will be fine in time.

Hope you're right 18Handicap. But as Casual likes to point out performances in HS (and I actually agree with him on the HS point) and travel ball are not exactly indicative of SEC if you follow that logic--otherwise a couple of the freshmen should be considered. Not familiar with her ankle injury at OU, but only know she never really was a consistent hitter there and not much of a threat beyond singles (career .278 hitter at OU and in 97 ABs only 7 extra base hits--1 triple 6 doubles). And maybe this was just first weekend so girls getting feet wet but the pitching faced was not good this past weekend save for maybe a somewhat decent arm Sunday that started the game for SEL. But let's give it a couple more weekends, and I'm guessing Coach will give it longer than that to pan out.

Jones is definitely going to transfer after this season which is a damn shame.

for her to have been given 0 chances these first two weeks is very telling of how Torina views her on this team

I hope not. Regardless of what my buddy Casual thinks of the last two classes the Jones kid has potential to be a truly impactful player if given the chance. If you judge her the same as you judge what sounds like a stout 2026 class she could be special: She was one of the most dynamic, successful and proven players in travel ball against the best competition in the country. The portal has changed things so much. Heavener and Jones are the two from the freshman class that I would like to keep away from the portal. Someone will inherit a stud we may regret losing.

Now on to seeing how we fair against V Tech!!! Hoping they throw that pitcher that has 2 perfect games. Will be a good test!!!! Looks like we may have lost Walker in the NW game. Ankle roll looked bad

YES, Tigerbait!!!! I agree. Coach Beth and Bryce have a plan that isn’t in our know. I will wait like you suggest. A lot can change throughout season. And yes so far it’s fun watching them right now!!! Hoping this is an indication of what we’ll see in SEC play!!!!!

How many practices and meeting have you attended? Maybe let those in charge do their jobs and you cheer for the team.

Stating his/her opinion doesn’t mean he/she isn’t cheering for the team. Unnecessary and completely irrelevant response for a very reasonable comment by MeauxJeaux. Even if I hope they are wrong I respect and understand the comment.

Agreed, I don’t get ppl criticizing Torina when they haven’t seen every practice, every intersquad, every hitting session!! I guarantee everyone Jones hasn’t faired well vs Berzon and Heavener, some folks think she ought to get a shot because she was a travel ball star and not what she has done in practice!! I promise you if Jones or anyone else has been lighting it up any coach would play them.

Casual, I don’t see MeauxJeaux comment as a criticism so much as an observation. I know you don’t like Jones or Daniel but others have contrary anecdotal evidence to your statement about how Jones has done in practices/scrimmages—albeit irrelevant to the comment. I think MeauxJeaux’s only point was that they think Jones may transfer because of not being given in-game opportunities which is her prerogative if she does. I’m gonna avoid getting back into the fruitless debate about Jones, Daniel, McKee, Hodge or anyone else. But we should completely dismiss the assessments of how good the 2026 class is too if their accomplishments and displays of talent mean nothing in travel ball (note again some of the 24 kids were recruited by the best programs with Jones being one of the most highly sought after). Like the several top programs that saw it as a loss that she chose LSU, I personally think her transferring would be a big program loss in my opinion and you think differently.

No clue if it’s a loss or not, never have seen her vs a current SEC type of pitcher, what I do know know is a 4 WS coach and her team don’t think she is ready at this point. I obviously don’t know that for 100% fact because I’m not in that building however one can surmise because she obviously isn’t playing. This whole debate settles on if you trust Torina and her staff on this or not. I do simply because if she is clearly doing better than others she would be playing. Others on here don’t trust Torina and staff,we disagree and that’s what’s great about a message board!!

Well all evidence I have and several others have point to a huge loss IF that happens. As far as I know she may be completely content with whatever the situation is in the dugout and won’t leave. She chose LSU and Coach Torina over some major programs for some reason and the 4WS coach thought enough of her to go after her pretty hard apparently. Like the earlier wise poster said: I’d rather wait and let things play out.

BY the way I know it doesn’t matter to you but the kid excelled against several Top SEC pitchers before they entered college (including Heavener in limited matchups I was told). And based on what Torina stated, NO ONE on the team did well against Heavener or Berzon in scrimmages so probably not the best reference IF that were true which actually I was excited to hear.
