Still can't believe that we were ONE win away from going to the WCWS last season.

There are differences in classes, you beat the very best teams in the country for these players where some of the travel ball coach hyped players really didn’t have those type offers… this is a class that OU would gladly have

My HS teams played Avery Hodge's team all four years and I learned real quick to either pitch to her very carefully or not pitch to her at all.

The one weekend I went up to OU to watch Kelly Maxwell pitch, Avery played 2 of the games and made a couple of outstanding plays on defense and was lightning quick on the bases.

I saw Jones' HS team play 3 or 4 times last year, but I have no report....

Honestly, I feel like our coaches do a very good job overall and the team looks to get along well together when I see them at games.

Our problem is the SEC because of the large number of very very good teams. Many of our fans get so upset if we don't win the conference every year, but I gauge our success by how far we go in post season. With Texas and Oklahoma now in the conference, I feel that there are at least 8 schools with a legitimate chance to win the national championship and I would put us in that 8.

I feel that many are too focused on the near term SEC play than the final outcome. Winning in the SEC is very important, but if you win the championship and don't get to OKC, then that was a waste... if we finish 6th in the SEC and get to OKC, I would be a very happy camper!

Thank you TIger Alum as your analysis swiped time from my daily "to do" list.! Handicap always contributes.

This makes me more excited for the later part of tiger sports this year.

Thanks Bel Air for the nice words. I don't post that much on softball anymore, but I read the boards daily. When I feel that my information may be helpful, then I'll post. I spent 35+ years coaching softball, but I still think like I'm a coach and sometimes my thoughts & defense of the coaches ruffles some feathers.

I do hear and see many things, but I prefer to just keep those to myself...again, the coach in me. I haven't been to Tiger Park much the past couple of years, but I make sure someone has my season tickets for almost every game. Since I retired (4th time lol), I spent a lot of time traveling in the spring seeing my last former players playing college ball.

Life is good as I coached Softball in grade school when my daughter played and have enjoyed it since then along with other women's sports. All we need now is a successful spring for the ladies! Thanks for sharing!

Hodge has a ton of potential. Has all the tools needed to be an outstanding defensive player. Offensively she is versatile. Won't contribute to the lack of power problem some think we may have but I would think as an everyday starter she can top .250 at the plate, and may sneak in a HR or 2.

Jones did not play high school ball last year instead playing travel ball. Read an article that she chose to forego high school ball and played travel ball out of state so that she could face consistently high level competition.

I know she didn't play HS ball, but there are a lot of people who know i coached HS in Houston area and have been asking me, so I just left that I didn't see her that day and the questions stopped.

why don’t we have a softball recruiting thread anymore? there’s always consistently been one for years but the last one was archived earlier this year and a new one hasn’t been made yet

Don’t know. We got a big-time commit and I haven’t seen anything about it here other than my post above.

Very very strange swing. Zero follow thru. Obviously great power but strange finish. I’ve never seen that at any level 30 yr umpire

Shelbi Sunseri homered like that many times.
