Jackson can really play, I know they liked Finney alot coming out of HS but I wouldn't mind a Zy Alexander type dude if they can find one..

Yes, but I don’t think our defense will be on the field anywhere near as long as they have been the past couple seasons. I also think Blake would be gone if he didn’t feel comfortable with his roster.

Blake’s defense has to find a way to get pressure without blitzing. Obviously, this is key to good secondary play. Delane took away half the field from offenses. Pickett and PJ are very good cornerbacks but at this point in their development, no offense fears them. We do need another CB who is very good in the slot and boundary positions

Pickett is a 6’4 corner that runs a 4.3 with super long arms and insane fluidity. In his first ever game he played a talented Clemson wr room and Cade klubnik opted to try mansoor Delane and pj woodland more(spoiler alert that failed because we know Delane went on to be a dog ). Offenses definitely will fear Pickett next year he’s a baller there were alredy some games he was barely getting targeted

They must like Michael Turner to keep him since he hasn’t played in 2 seasons. Desperately needs to gain 20-30 pounds. He is listed at like 157…

There is no debate regarding Pickett’s physical traits and raw talent. Today he is not cutting off one side of the field. I have every confidence he will get there, but not starting season two. Clemson’s offense underperformed as ours did so that is probably not the best example. A comparable CB would be Finney from Oregon; tremendous talent that went through his ups and downs throughout the year. Both will make significant jumps in year two. It’s not realistic to expect a 2nd year corner to take away one side of the field as Delane did.

Jackson(I believe he’s the transfer from FSU) came on late in the year after recovering from an injury. I “think” Corey maybe counting on him to have a bigger impact. This is why our front seven needs to be difference makers in 26

I think Jakeem Jackson is going to play a lot. Always been a Woodland fan. He'll only get better.

I bet he runs a 4.5 like Flott, is slim build, and is a sticky corner that isn't strong enough to bully receivers, but uses longer arms to disrupt passes. I think they're similar, but I agree Woodland likely has better ball skills and maybe some better hips.

Woodland is also shorter, but I think he has long arms that he uses well.

Sure but heading into last season absolutely no one predicted Delane to be the locksmith he was. Did i think he would a good player? For sure. Did I expect a jim Thorpe finalist , first team all American and projected first rounder ? Hell no he got there becusse he had the ability and an offseason working with Corey Raymond got the best out of him. One offseason with Raymond already got dj Pickett to a first team freshmen all American. After another offseason being coached up by CR, I absolutely expect an all American type jump he has that ability.

Him and finney were the best freshmen cb in the country who for sure had their freshmen moments as Pickett had a down performance to end the year vs Houston and Finney got cooked vs Indiana. I’m confident tho Pickett will match what Delane did

Woodland ran a 4.46 out of HS and prob has only gotten faster since being at LSU. I think he’s a 4.4 guy

We picked up zero CBs in all of this portal craziness. That tells you they like the CB room they have. Doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't cherry pick a real stud, but are there any stud CBs uncommitted in the portal?

How many DBs do you baws think we need? We have 8 at Corner and another 8 at Safety....thats 16 dudes that can play DB/CB/S. Most of their traits will be interchangeable and the coaches are using them in hybrid roles lots of the time anyway.

I think ideally you get one, maybe two with experience. This is one of those positions though that I've said you're looking for All-conference caliber players. Doesn't really matter the conference, but you aren't adding numbers just for the sake of adding numbers, you want someone that could possibly contribute. You're good on starters, and I'll bet you already have your 3rd CB, but you want to add that 4th or 5th guy in the rotation and be able to put him on the field no matter the situation.

Look they have talented players but the CB room is unproven.I hope Jackson can ball out but he has no stats from last year about 6 tackles again unproven.Finney was a good signing but remember he reclassed so he's really young.DJ,PJ and then?.Its not about trusting Baker its about what we see that's all he's saying.

Seriously?

LSU has two CBs who have played and half the fan base hates Woodland and thinks he sucks (I like the guy). Finney would be my guess as the third guy who can play but he hasn't even practiced in college yet. The other guys haven't shown sh*t.

Idk anyone who has said Woodland sucks...he had a really good season. shite, of all the players on our roster he had the best development from one season to the other.

The OP is being buried in downvotes, but simple math says they aren't wrong.

Last year, LSU had 10 CBs on the roster. 7 are returning while 1 completed their eligibility and 2 are transferring out.

That would seem LSU needs 3 CBs to fill out the roster. Hence, LSU needs CBs. Like the OP said.
