LSU is more elite than you think in recruiting

Last year Colorado recruiting class was headlined by the 600th ranked player in the class. Our recruiting class lowest ranked player is 614. That means the last man in this recruiting class would headline at other schools recruiting class. Omorion Miller was not a take in this class and he is the second highest rated recruit in Colorado current class. To put this in perspective Koy Moore, Alex Adams & Trey Palmer all transferred and started at their transfer schools. I’m not sure any of those three guys would crack this years top 4 WR rotation.

Saw some Virginia Tech family over the holidays. The subject of LSU's bowl came up, I told them it was a subpar outcome and that Purdue was not an attractive opponent. They called me a college football elitist

Who in the hell here ever tried to argue that LSU and Colorado were even close to being on the same level?

Prior to 2003 LSU and CU were pretty close in terms of wins bowls and championships.

That's 20 years ago. That has zero to do with comparing recruits between the two schools right now.

I don't even understand the point of the thread. LSU has been among the most consistently best recruiting programs for years. Is this thread in response to somebody saying otherwise? The thrown in comparison to Colorado is also strange.

I was stumbling along on the internet and came upon a Board talking about the University of Illinois' latest recruiting class and they were happy to have gotten one, ONE, four star recruit. I shite you not.

It just highlights that LSU is indeed an elite program and they recruit as such. I compared CU and LSU to show how elite of a level that the program currently recruits at. LSU players on the 2nd and 3rd string will start at other P5 schools.

I'm not sure what you are getting at. Everyone knows LSU recruits better than Colorado, Auburn, Nebraska, and Akron. No one is debating that. We also just took in a transfer from Southeastern so it kinda goes both ways.

I want to know why you think that I don't know LSU is as Elite as they come.

I understand what youre saying but we need to be top 1 or 2 every year to compete on the level that ga and bama are at. I think bama pulled an a&m this year and let's hope it doesn't work out because if it does they will be throwing the kitchen sink at at their nil every year.

So we are comparing LSU to Colorado now instead of schools like Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State?

Depends on the definition of elite. Is it in the same realm as the gravely overused great, where everyone with a solid year is such or are we talking the truly elite? Bama, UGA, Ohio St. Those are elites, in recruiting and on the field. We've got titles to back up any talk not situated around Bama but 1 great year mixed into a bunch of 8-4, 9-3 years isn't elite by my definition. Lose to Purdue and this season is in the wash as well.

Yes, they both had one national championship, but I wouldn’t really say they were close in other ways. At that point LSU led 34-25 in bowl appearances, 27-18 in final AP poll rankings, and 15-8 in final Top 10 AP finishes. Of course since then is 3-0 in NCs, 19-5 in bowl appearances, 15-1 in final AP rankings, and 8-0 in Top 10s. In other words, LSU has accomplished in the last 20 years almost as much as Colorado in their entire history (and 3x NCs) after already being comfortably ahead prior to that.

LSU is so elite that we send sleeper agents to our rivals.

If you pay close enough attention to the context of what he said, he was not so much comparing as he was contrasting, by saying that our lowest rated recruits are some teams' highest rated. That's a lot different than saying "we recruit better than Colorado", which would be an obvious statement. I think he's just trying to highlight how vast the difference is from the teams at the top, to those at the bottom. Sure, most of us already know that, too, but let's at least be fair to the OP in what he's trying to get across.

We just want to be more elite.

Top 10, so so. Top 5, maybe. Top 3 yes...
