I wouldn't expect much

8.7 points, 6.1 boards, 0.8 blocks in 27 min/gm this season at GW, his 4th year in college

You know that's not how basketball works in the SEC right?

He moves well in the highlights that I saw. He seems to have a nice shot from the post. He seemed to be okay on defense. I didn’t see him dribbling in the highlights. A lot of pick and rolls followed by a lot of dunks. I expect him to get significant minutes off of the bench, because he started 26 of 30 games for George Washington. He seems to play more aggressively than Will Baker and Jalen Reed. They weren’t a good defensive team, but he was their 3rd best defender and did have a positive BPM. He doesn’t have an outside game, but he’ll be a decent role player.

Basically, McMahon's only effective recruiting pitch right now is bringing guys home to Louisiana. That is the result of last season's awful results. But it is what it is, and at least he is getting the LA guys to come home. Now he has to do something with what he's brought in.

Dean looks to be an experienced player from a pretty mediocre A-10 program. He was an ok rebounder, but there's not much else that really sticks out in terms of production. I doubt he is someone LSU is looking to bring in as a starter. He's probably a 10-15 mpg guy who you hope can give you little something on the glass and alter a few shots inside here an there.

I'm sure he wasn't at the top of McMahon's wish-list. But beggars can't be choosers.

Hunter isn't great, but he started for GW. He'll provide some minutes in his role. He won't be a big factor in how good we will be, but he offers some defense and rebounding. He's not great in those areas, but he made us slightly better. I think we were already fine as a scoring team.

Regardless, I'm much more optimistic. I don't think we'll be terrible, because we've gotten 4 very good transfers in Wright, Cook, Stewart and Baker that have more than replaced what we lost. That alone will make us better. Then with Fountain returning with his production and Mwani returning with his all around value, then we only need Reed and Ward to improve a little from last year to be at least a middle tier SEC team. Reed may be the most important player next year, because he should be able to offer the post production that we think we lack. Hunter will help in that regard, but we need Reed to improve on last year to be good.

If we get lucky and Chest and Williams offer more than expected this year, then we could be a very good team.

Dean makes 12 (by my count). That means there is one more scholarship available

You're right, but it's being reported on paid sites that they self imposed a scholarship ban so they only have 12 available this year, not the usual 13. So Dean takes the final spot.
