C’mon did we really expect this staff to close out strong with a month and half to recruit?

Our true rebuild begins next recruiting cycle with a year relationships built with recruits.

Yes.

If not they should have backup plans.

But it’s really not about relationships with 5 stars. It’s about NIL deals. With 3 stars relationships are much more important. Big names are going to come down to money. Hopefully seeing what the Aggies did will light a fire under LSU to start pushing hard on boosters to contribute to NIL.

When kids are signing because of money. A rebuild doesn't matter. We will lose out on the same battles next yr. We weren't ready for nil or can't compete with it. We will have to hit on every big time recruit we get, and perfectly develop every low rated kid to compete at high level anymore. Is what it is

Relationships only get you so far now. These kids want to be shown the money.

It will take time and money, but CBK will get it going.

It's an LSU Recruiting Board

What do you expect?

Mathews has proved today that is obviously all about the money. I hope I’m wrong.

Next purchasing cycle, you mean.

This board should be renamed to “LSU Purchasing” because that’s all it is.

Other new coaches did

Brian Kelly is effectively the highest paid coach in college football and one of the winningest coaches in college football. I expected more interest drawn from recruits and elite transfers.

???

Why in the frick would they line up a bunch of borderline 3 stars as backup plan guys when they can go portal shopping for experienced players in the spring? I think we’ve seen that play out pretty well so far in terms of roster restructuring in this class. Late swings on projects was the kind of thing O did to close classes and we ended up with a bunch of guys who weren’t really SEC quality who didn’t pan out.

I’m sure next year will be very different, but there is just no reason to do what you are suggesting with this class.

They do. It’s called the transfer portal.

Today may turn out to be a bust, but I find it amazing how much confidence you all have in the recruiting sites. Almost all of them had Mathews to LSU yesterday and now they are flipping. It’s certainly possible something dramatically changed last night, but it could also be that none of them has any real insight and are just playing follow the leader.

I'm not saying sign all 3 stars but didn't they just sign a 3 star cb.

Why not fight harder for andrew paul? I don't think there is a huge gap between him and citizen.

I already said I'd rather save the spots for the portal but the coaching staff obviously didn't want to do that.

I mean, half these guys will be in the portal next year or year after. Look at Noah Cain. Just because they sign somewhere else doesn't mean they are gone forever.

What makes you think he wanted to be anyone’s back up plan? It’s not like he landed at Tulane or something.
