Outfielder Mic Paul is leaving LSU & entering the transfer portal. Only had 8 at bats this season.

Roster size reduction casualty. It’s too bad because he’s a good player and I think would have been a contributor. I hope he does well wherever he goes.

Easy to understand why he’s doing it. I hate to see him go. he’s always there warming up his teammates and helping them with their equipment. Never met him but he seems like a good guy.

NIL money is similar to draft eligibility. Some guys have leverage and some don’t. Even though they are on Gordon’s team, Braswell and Pearson dont make much bc they have little leverage to leave. Bear makes the most bc they had to pay him to come back. Frey definitely had the ability to transfer and he was a top target of JJ the last two years to retain. As I said, I don’t know what he makes, but it very likely more than a lot of other players. It’s not uncommon for guys to be paid more to sit the bench than the guys playing just bc of leverage. For example,Arrambide is probably being paid more than a lot of the starters.

More likely to get a shot at 3rd. Frey/Larson will be at 1rst.

There’s a chance neither of them will be here next year

Better than 50% they both wont be here

Frey and Larson may both be on to different ventures next year. Jake Brown has played 1B some, so moving him there with Costello leaving gives you flexibility in the OF for the newcomers, unless you get a stud 1B in the portal.

FB is up to 97 and finished this season with 97 strikeouts
Wells’ FB never reached 94mph at the box. That said, he did fill the zone all weekend.

Is there any chance that Johnson has stayed in contact with Trevor Schmidt?
Posted on 6/6/25 at 9:47 am to TigerMac81
I was wondering the same. Would he come back in knowing there is a bigger opportunity at 1st base.

it’s going to be interesting
do injured players and redshirted players count towards the 35?
we had 5 guys on our team throw 5 or less innings.
We had 3 freshmen get than 20 AB
I think you can definitely get by with 35 kids on your roster, but it’s going to be hard to have young developmental players.
We had 20 different players take AB
We only had 18 guys throw a pitch.
Beck did both. So that is 37 different players who made an appearances.
but if you count sheerin and Guidry that’s 39
But if you’re putting the roster together, Woods, Thompson, Dorsey, Paul and Priester probably just aren’t making the cut.
So you do that in the fall?

We will definitely see unlucky teams get a wave of injuries and the entire season go south.

I don't think anyone knows when the roster limits have to be settled. Is it the start of the fall? After fall practice?

I have been trying to figure that out also. Can you have 40 or more and redshirt 6 to get to 34? Or is it a hard 34?

i don’t think 35 is too hard a number if you don’t count RS and Injuries.
In 2023 we had 19 different players log an AB and 17 different pitchers. so counting guidry who did both, you have 35 players actually playing and that’s with Shores and Edwards going down for the season and Ack missing some gamesZ
but does that count Grant Taylor and Noot who were injured all year?

I wouldn't put the fastest kid on the field with one of the better arms at 1st base, I would have to find a place in the outfield for him.
Where does the younger Pearson play? He has power and seems to see the ball well and has some good at bats.

The issue is that with the new rules, 34 is counting injuries and redshirts.

I'm not saying there is no chance but when he came to LSU for the fall he seemed really overmatched by the pitchers in the scrimmages. Not sure with the roster size getting smaller he will have a spot.

can you practice with the team at all if you aren’t on the roster?
