What happened to that Texas Tech program? Tadlock had it rolling and now they've invested money in football and softball. I guess baseball isn't getting much of anything? They have completely disappeared.

They never seem really active in the portal. Wonder if they don't have big donors funding their roster like they do in some of the other sports.

Hard to imagine the reason TTU fell off is due to NIL, not because maybe they arent spending the money but look at the competition in the Big 12

Are Kansas and West Virginia really spending more money than them to make a difference? Seems doubtful

Kansas absolutely is not. That's why they're making their bones with JUCO and NAIA guys.

I find it hard to believe WVU is when they're really leaning into the D2 pitching market every year.

Both programs (along with UCONN because of the northeast D3 and Florida State because of the reliance on smaller D1 school transfers) make for some interesting case studies in roster construction.

Brody Trosclair from Northwestern State hit the portal. Coming off injury but a big LHP draft prospect for 2028. From Thibodaux.

I need to start looking at some of these guys in clusters.

Like Watters, Hotchkiss, and Souders. No one is getting more than one of them.

Also, getting one of them may mean that whoever gets them won't be getting someone like Laskofski or Garcia.

It's easier to do with position players than pitchers. Pitchers it's really just "surefire weekend starters" and "everyone else."

And so far, there's only like 2 surefire weekend starters in the portal.

I think there is something there, but he needs more PAs than we can promise him to find it.

Let's trade him to Northwestern State for Marionneaux or Trosclair.
