Curious to see how his velocity improves or see if he pans out to be a Jake Brown type player where he comes in playing the outfield and keep his bat in the lineup.

Holden Hering committed to Arkansas.

Nice video interview on YouTube with Coach Johnson, recapping the weekend series in Biloxi. In the 3 games, the Tigers hit numerous HR's, including one grand slam. Sorry not capable of providing a link.

Was it this? Thinking about going out to Hammond next weekend. Can't wait to watch this team play.

Cliffs:
Jay believes the team will be able to thump. But, noted in a sense that you can thump during the season but the CWS requires a more diverse offensive approach. He liked the quality at bats and low K rate through most of the scrimmages. Likes the depth of the position players.
Brown should be one of the best players in America, and isn't even a finished product. He keeps getting better, and is a leader.
Pitching will be a strength. Good outing for Moore, Evans, Garcia, and Paz. Happy with Schmidt, happy to see Rizy wiggle out of a jam.
Impressed with Reaves, especially his defense at 2B.
Team is ahead of where they were at this time last year, but still alot to figure out.
SLU will be a good test. Very experienced team with good arms.

Curiel said that Brown is more determined than ever before to have a great season. "He wants to win the Golden Spikes Award". Coach JJ keeps repeating that Brown is "the best player on the team".

Jay really has stuck with him. I myself would like to see an uptick in his defensive consistency

I guess if Reaves takes 2B, then Dardar might be the Nippolt of this team.

Just from interviews so far I can see him starting to take on a leadership role on the team.

Tony V went on Bussin With the Boys. Moderately interesting interview. Interview starts at 1:00:00 but the part I time stamped is 1:36:10 when Lewan asks about which college programs pay the most.
Tony kind of dances around it but mentioned LSU by name and said "some programs are more organized" and then said "oil money is real."
What I gleaned from that is Texas/Texas A&M are spending the most, but LSU has a good system in place. He also mentioned that Tennessee offers their baseball players full scholarships and "some major, SEC athletic departments" are not.
We kind of already knew that but thought it was interesting coming from him.

here is a look at '29 prospect from Barbe's Zaylon Johnson Just a freshman but he has a very good chance to be getting a call from LSU on Aug 1 2027.
Really young, just turned 14. Moved to Lake Charles end of 6th grade from Shreveport area. Hit 89 when PBR was there but he posted video of him hitting over 91 on the stalker a while back. Big kid with lots of potential and will certainly get some playing time this year for the Bucs and as of now is the top piece in an absolutely loaded 2029 class in the Lake Area. Both Barbe and Sam Houston have some big time prospects in those classes. That class joins the extremely strong sophomore class Sam Houston already has the states top ranked player.
Zaylon has a good chance to be the states top ranked 2029 player when PBR releases the rankings.

I was just looking at the 2023 class on the first page, that would make them Juniors this year. Only two players remain, Milan and Brown. No pitchers.
We should be in a little better position with the 2024 class, at least as for as having Junior pitchers. Pitching in 2026 is strong, 2027 could be even stronger.

Their roster isn't updated for the fall. Can't really tell. MJ is now at CSUN after spending last year at Wichita State and getting on the mound once.

this has baffled me since last year; CJJ was willing to forego an elite in state defender in Mike Ryan for a sub par defender like Reaves.
He has to put in the work cause he couldn't even play INF at JUCO.
