re: LSU Baseball 2026 (and beyond) Recruiting Thread

According to the tiger rag interview with Jay recently, Jay is expecting 13 HS players to be draft risk. Realistically Jay is expecting to lose 6-8. There is no certainties in the draft and we could lose more than 8 or less than 6. We should expect some surprises, good and bad. I will give you my predictions on the percent of them making it to campus, for I believe the biggest 12 draft risks.

5% Schmidt
15% Kirschkorn
20% Washington
30% Murphy, Santarelli, Sides, Nawrocki and Adams
50% Roberson, Stringer, Brady and Evans

I actually don't know what the 13th draft risk could be. Loew, Blomker, Tucker, I'm just guessing on who it might be.

JUCO Osbolt isn't mentioned on this thread but he is a draft risk. He is draft eligible and will have to entertain any offers he gets.

I will be excited about any of those guys named already mentioned above, but 3 guys interest me the most.

There is a chance Nawrocki could be our top option from the left side in 2027. His height might be the only reason MLB is having pause on him. He could be an impact as a freshman with big side on his college career.

Santarelli is intriguing as well. I could see him following a college path similar to Bear Jones. Jay said he would avoid chasing power in the portal and to develop it from our signing classes.

Sides is the other player I'm going to be watch closes on draft weekend. He will likely go pro but his interest in going to school seems genuine. He could be a future rotation guy for us in 2028.

I think it's one thing to get coaxed into the portal, and another to actually sign when things get real and there are more offers floating around.

I wonder if the move was unexpected and Jay is trying to keep him. But the immediate lsu player response was too funny. Could be a little awkward if he returns.

Just a little roster number updating/guessing.

Currently the existing roster is at 30 with 15 position players and 15 pitchers. Of the 15 position players we expect 2 to be drafter in Curiel and Brown. Out of the 15 pitchers we are expecting 3 to be drafted in Sheerin, Garcia, and Guidry. Puts the existing roster at 25/34.

When looking at the recruiting class we are currently at 11 position players and 12 pitchers for a total of 23 recruits.

Here is where the guessing games begin. I will not name who I think makes it vs gets drafted but I will guess of the position players 6 of them make it to campus. Pitching wise I will guess 7 of them make it to campus.

With those guesses that would put the 2027 roster around 38 players. I'm going to assume that at least 4 players are eligible to be considered DSA players.

The roster target is 40-41 players. There are a couple HS pitchers that could still be in play if the draft hammers us. But they're in play for a lot of our competitors too. The Horvath kid from Texas has interest from most of the SEC, but he's probably been told to wait until after the draft to see who has the best remaining offer.

I just don't understand why the target would be 40-41 when you eventually lose the DSAs and will need to be down to 34. I know Jay may have made comments about it and used that number but I feel like 38 is a better roster number for next season to eventually get down to that.

Only logical reason I guess would be to do with the amount of turnover after next season.

Project will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe any player outside of this years rostered freshmen could have been given a DSA tag. I'm not very familiar with the specifics though.

I think that's right. And it all would have had to happen last year and it follows guys the rest of their career, wherever they transfer to.

What was said about Paz by the players after he entered the portal? I missed it.
