What was wrong with the current bats? Felt like we found a sweet spot.

I agree

Definitely think we found the sweet spot with the bats imo

The bats being lighter increases bat speed for weaker players. And you think this reduces high school stats?

Yes but not super familiar with bat talk

I honestly never played baseball so the size of the bat is kind of foreign to me

I just recently got back into college baseball

Baseball as a whole I don’t care about

Have the bats ever gone backwards like that in weight before? Seems like its always gone the other way as skill level improved over time. Seems like they are trying to solve a problem that doesnt exist

Not that I’m aware of. This is almost universally being panned on Twitter, which I know isn’t necessarily indicative of the true consensus, but it’s hard to find anyone that agrees with the change.

The only way this works is if the USAbat standard makes it even deader than BBCOR, which may be why they made the change.

Yeah this is a major problem.

I was in high school when they made the major bat changes in 2010-2011. Pre season we were allowed to use certain bats and then while warming up prior to our opener, the umpires banned about half our bats.

The current iteration felt like just good enough without being dangerous.

Everything around him is fishy. There is no loyalty or love for the uniform. Really unfortunate because I liked his talent and thought he could be a great player for us.
